Timberwolves @ Suns Monday game thread 12-9-19

[Mainstreet]

Suns come home for two games to face the Timberwolves on Monday and the Grizzlies on Wednesday.

Wolves (10-11) have lost three games in a roll and play the Lakers in Los Angeles tonight.

Suns (10-12) hope to get well after their loss to the Rockets on Saturday.

Game time is 7 p.m. MST (Arizona time).

It will be televised on FSAZ.

I'd be fine with them bringing Baynes off the bench in the next couple of games. That'll be his role soon enough anyway, let him get a feel for it now. Start Diallo at Center and bring Baynes in for 20-25 minutes.

We're so close to Ayton returning, it almost feels like the beginning of the season again. I hope he's healthy and ready to run when he's activated.

Ready to run is a key phrase. I expect it to have to build up. No practice regiment is equal to playing 30+ minutes per game.

Heading into tonight's game the Thunder are 7th (8-10), Suns 8th (8-10) and Wolves 9th (8-10) in the West.

To say the least tonight's game has meaning if one wants to follow the playoff race early.

I really did not expect to be in the playoff race at this point in the season--and that was assuming a healthy squad.

I thought the Suns would compete for a playoff spot this season.

It seems more obtainable the way the Western Conference looks. And the Suns will be without Ayton for 25 games and Baynes has missed 9 games. When the Suns get them back, they should be right in the mix.

I agree with what I have seen others say and that he should just come off the bench and let Kam start (as much as that hurts to say...). It just makes sense since they want to restrict his minutes and he will be coming off the bench anyway when Ayton returns.

Whether Baynes starts or not is not an issue with me. If he can play, the Suns can certainly use him tonight against the Wolves. Can't get Ayton back quick enough either. Only 4 more games.
