The Boldin situation is one that Kurt Warner has no control of as the team leader. This situation is between the Bidwills and Q. It's Kurts position to conduct himself well on and off the field and lead the team in games, it has nothing to do with signing and re-signing players.

Yeah, except he and Fitz get asked about it constantly. I suppose can say, "no comment" or "i don't want to talk about that anymore". But, that's not going to make anything better either.

IMO, players should have the back of their teammates when it comes to the business side of this sport. For the good of the team, that's better for team chemistry. It's not helpful to be a shill for management right after you got yours.

Dude I know your not talking to me. I've been posting with these guys sinse 1999 so a troll I aint.

As far as the topic goes, Kurt needs to move on. This issue is now bigger than him and needs to be resolved between Boldin and the FO. If Boldin starts to create problems with team chemistry Warner's job as a leader will be to unify the team even at Boldin's expense. That will be hard to do if he is too comitted to the Boldin media circus. He will not have credibility with his teammates.

Media circus? This is still the Arizona Cardinals. It's pretty low key compared to what would be happening with this in New York or Dallas.

Besides, it just can't be much worse than it was last year. I mean, Boldin called out management including his own coach. The only thing that could escalate it is if Boldin started skewering his teammates (ala Lance Briggs and Chad Johnson) which I don't see him doing.

on the other side, Brett Favre was blasted when he came out a few years ago against Javon Walker for holding out and saying he should honor his contract. So, i guess either way the QB loses.

You are right either way they loss, which is why you shut your mouth about other players business. Nothing good will come of it and it will only fan the flames, it is not good for the team or either player involved. Just follow Wilsons lead and shut your pie holes. And Wilson gets asked the same questions, even more so since he to is wanting a new contract. Wilson wont even comment on his own contract. Warner needs to follow Wilsons lead.

It wont make anything better so why open your pie hole and possible make it worse? Doesnt make sense

Its doesnt have to be done through the media, in fact 9 times out of 10 when it is done through the media it misses its mark completely and makes the strom bigger.

You guys are both behind the curve. I already posted this upthread.

As far as Warner going back to back seasons, he's played in 34 straight games the last two years so I guess it's "possible" but the real question, which won't make anyone feel any better about his health, is can he play 3 straight years without getting injured? That's what he's facing.

In Lott we trust.

What Warner has done since the latter half of 2007 is really amazing especially considering his age and that he'd been hammered behind weak Cardinal lines for parts of both 2005 and 2006. Its like he found the fountain of youth somewhere on South Mountain.

600 completions in 907 attempts for 6,945 yards 51 TDs and 28 INTs.

Plus 92-135 for 1,147 yards 11Tds and 3 INTs in the playoffs.

That's 1042 pass attempts since Nov. 11 2007!

Wells and Hightower need to step up so Warner's arm doesn't fall off sometime around Halloween.

I am fine that Kurt has stood up for Q. I think that does show leadership but now that he has done it repeatedly and the situation has escalated his response should be something like this:

"Q is a warrior and makes us a better team but now we need to start looking forward to get back to the SB and finish what we started. I hope to end my career with him a happy member of this team. The FO has drafted players with great promise and has attracted free agents that can help get us over the top. My position hasn't changed with regard to Q. He makes us better but I won't be answering any more questions about it because I won't let the media distract us from our goal." (nice way of putting it on the media vs Q).

Good points. Warner was a amazing last year. And he was just as amazing in the playoff when throwing less. Regular season he averaged 39.5 attempts a game, in the playoffs he averaged 34 attempts a game. Again he was just amazing throwing the ball fewer times. It also helped are defense because we rose are TOP in the plaoffs by more then a minute and a half.

If we can continue the playoff trend of 34 passes to 28 rushing attempts into this regular season are offense will be just as dominate (compared to the regular season ratio of 39.5 to 21.5), but with the added benefit of helping are D.

Sorry for the thread hijack, now we can get back on topic. :)

It's funny how things work out. The gloves got him back on the field and the left elbow won his teammates back. Last year's playoff run removed any doubts.

What's even better is what you've said though. If the Cardinals can pick up where they left off in the playoffs, with Wells duplicating(hopefully exceeding) James' production, Warner's numbers will be better with fewer attempts.

It was really a season of growth for the offense and it wasn't until week 17 that it really started to consistently function at a high level. It reached high levels during the year but the progression could be seen. Sorta weak vs. the 49ers in week 1 but real good vs. Miami. Back down vs. Washington and the Jets but up again vs. Buffalo and Dallas. Down a little vs. Carolina but up for 3 games vs. the NFC West. Then down vs. the Eagles and Giants. And so it went until week 17.

It's really quite amazing that a team could be that fluid in it's approach within the course of a season and still have it all come together at the right time. After James and the hint of a running game came back in week 17 they found the formula and the balance.

Those 5 games Warner was:
111/165 67.3% 1,410 8.5ypa 15td(9.09%!) 4int(2.42%) 113.95rating.

To put that in a little perspective, when Brady threw 50 td's in 2007 his td% was 8.7%. A 5 game sample does not equal a 16 game schedule though but "if" the offense remains at the next level they seemed to find the last quarter of 2008...fantasyland.
