What Warner has done since the latter half of 2007 is really amazing especially considering his age and that he'd been hammered behind weak Cardinal lines for parts of both 2005 and 2006. Its like he found the fountain of youth somewhere on South Mountain.
600 completions in 907 attempts for 6,945 yards 51 TDs and 28 INTs.
Plus 92-135 for 1,147 yards 11Tds and 3 INTs in the playoffs.
That's 1042 pass attempts since Nov. 11 2007!
Wells and Hightower need to step up so Warner's arm doesn't fall off sometime around Halloween.
It's funny how things work out. The gloves got him back on the field and the left elbow won his teammates back. Last year's playoff run removed any doubts.
What's even better is what you've said though. If the Cardinals can pick up where they left off in the playoffs, with Wells duplicating(hopefully exceeding) James' production, Warner's numbers will be better with fewer attempts.
It was really a season of growth for the offense and it wasn't until week 17 that it really started to consistently function at a high level. It reached high levels during the year but the progression could be seen. Sorta weak vs. the 49ers in week 1 but real good vs. Miami. Back down vs. Washington and the Jets but up again vs. Buffalo and Dallas. Down a little vs. Carolina but up for 3 games vs. the NFC West. Then down vs. the Eagles and Giants. And so it went until week 17.
It's really quite amazing that a team could be that fluid in it's approach within the course of a season and still have it all come together at the right time. After James and the hint of a running game came back in week 17 they found the formula and the balance.
Those 5 games Warner was:
111/165 67.3% 1,410 8.5ypa 15td(9.09%!) 4int(2.42%) 113.95rating.
To put that in a little perspective, when Brady threw 50 td's in 2007 his td% was 8.7%. A 5 game sample does not equal a 16 game schedule though but "if" the offense remains at the next level they seemed to find the last quarter of 2008...fantasyland.
