I can't understand why any Cardinal fan would root for Thomas Jones. He admitted that he never gave 100% when he was here and that he didn't want to be in AZ from Day 1. He didn't have any trouble cashing his Cardinal paychecks though, did he?

Thomas Jones will always be a douchebag, as far as I'm concerned.

Do me a favor and find the quote of TJ saying that?

I seem to remember that it was on one of the pregame shows and IIRC he said that in an interview. His explanation was something to the effect of; "we were all in the green room at the draft waiting to see who would go where. As it got closer to Arizona's choice the rest of us that hadn't been chosen yet were saying, oh no you're going to Arizona not me. Then the Cardinals picked me and my heart sank." Not a word for word quote from him but that was the gist of it.

... I'm a diehard Card's fan... but, I can't blame him for that feeling on day one. I also recall poster's saying subsequently, that he was dancing in the hole, afraid of getting hit, etc., etc. Well, he's happy now, runs as hard as anyone in the League, and a step away from a ring. Good luck to him!

I agree but maybe he should have kept that to himself and be more professional and not be so verbose as to his unhappiness/disdain for his years as a Card. He was paid millions to play a boys game here. He should have focused on being gratefull for that perhaps instead.

When asked about his Cardinal years he could've said something to the effect of "I am glad for the opportunities I had in Arizona and wished it could have worked out better for all involved while I was there." Then leave it at that.

So you want people to lie? If he didnt like his time here more power to him. He was still undervalued by this franchise when he was here. I have no problem with his comments above. That certainly doesnt imply that he didnt give it 100% while on the field.

More power to him? Come on, Shane.

Every one of us have been stuck in jobs that we hate or don't feel happy about. But if you are worth your salt, you put your head down and work anyway. TJ didn't do that.

Show me any proof that shows he didnt work? I saw a very talented RB while here who wasnt used properly and completely mishandled by the coaching staff.

He ran soft and went down on first contact. He had mysterious 'breathing problems' that took him out of games. The whole phone incident...

His time here was a total fiasco in every sense of the word. His attitude and performance showed me that he didn't work during his time here.

His breathing problems werent mysterious thay were diagnosed and confirmed by CArds staff. Who cares about the phone incident? Talk about whining. Off field accidents happen even to athletes. We can never prove how he truly hurt that hand anyways.

I think you're both right. I don't think TJ was utilized correctly in AZ, and as a result, I don't think he tried particularly hard. I think he was pretty immature when he was here. I think he's grown up a lot since then.

I can't blame him for that. I did a lot of growing up in the years immediately following college, too. He's human.

It happened however Jurecki said it did...he knows all.

TJ got a bad shake here, from jump. He worked just as hard as anyone else, and through 4 games one year was leading the NFC in rushing, then got nicked up and carries dropped, again. Inept coaching staff and seriously some of the bottom points of the franchise while he was around.

He didn't beat up his wife like Pittman, so I have no issues with TJ at all and I actually like the guy. Hate the team he plays for, but if the Bears win it all at least TJ gets a ring.

Funny, for someone who just preached honesty, you are defending a guy who blatantly lied about how he hurt his hand.

And yeah, off field incidents do happen to athletes. But how they deal with them shows what type of men they are.

Adrian Wilson had to deal with his child being born pre-mature, but he never once dogged it on the field even when he had every right to. Quite frankly, that tops anything TJ has gone through.

Jones came in here with a terrible attitude and it showed. He played soft and wasn't much of a team mate. How you can 'root' for such a marshmallow is beyond me.

Yeah, but don't you wish someone was paying you multiples of millions of dollars through your immature years?

Damn straight, though that probably would have stunted my maturing growth. (I almost used the word "********" in that sentence, but opted not to because of, well, maturity issues)

Where did I say I wanted him to lie Shane? I was suggesting that since IIRC he was being interviewed for a national program that might be seen by a few million people that he might want to be a professional and not bash his former employer on it. If he wants to bash the Cards, Mac, or the Bidwill's fine. Do it in the locker room or after you're retired. One should perhaps strongly consider what one is going to say in response to a question like that to a large audience.

I agree with Jason in the extent that I was very immature at his age too. I have to think that hopefully if I was gonna be interviewed on Natl. TV that I would be more thoughtful than he was. Badmouthing a former employer to your buddies behind said employers back is one thing. Doing it on Natl TV is another. He should have been more thoughtful and less bitter pehaps. I hope he is a better man than that now.

Further I didn't remark on what or how much his effort was on the field while he was a Card. Perhaps you mistakenly put words in my mouth by accident? I was merely commenting on his bitterness about his Card years. See my comment about being paid millions to play a boys game. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and don't mean to create any hard feelings between us.:)

TJones was just another in a long line of goofball first round draft picks. Not because of anything to do with Jones just that he wasn't the best player available nor was he a need pick. The Cards were worried about Pittman staying healthy and so used a top 10 pick on insurance. I remember Swd was livid that the Cards would use the pick on a part time RB.

Then in true Cardinal fashion they let both of them go and they end up playing in the SuperBowl for other teams.

He has to improve a TON before he can be compared to Jake. And that's scary.
Rex did not throw a pic in the Saints game. Jake Plummer needs to improve before he can be compared to Rex. I would say Rex and Jake are the same on their bad days. But Rex is more capable of reaching a level of acceptable mediocrity consistently.
