Well, the Cardinal's involvement in the Manning saga is over, and it is now time to go to work to develop this team as most thought it would happen before the Manning Mania began.

Thankfully, the Cards have done some good things already, and now they are poised to become the team that the Whiz proclaimed as 'very close' at the end of last season. They have signed Adam Snyder at RG, and have first released, then re-signed Levi Brown at a much lower rate. He projects to be a RT on this new roster. Meanwhile, the door is still open for the birds to sign Bell, the LT from Buffalo that the Cards worked out last week. He could be a solid replacement for Levi on the left side. It is also possible that the draft will be used to take yet another tackle, as a future trainee for our OL even if that pick comes in a later round. In any event, our OL should be much stronger and better than the previous model.

Meanwhile, Cameron Wimbley is scheduled for release, and the Cards could be key players for his services as an OLB who could make a tremendous difference to our defense. It will be interesting to see if the birds make a play for him.

With Kolb's bonus about to kick in, I believe we will see him competing with Skelton for the top QB slot as we go through the remainder of the off season. Kolb will have his hands full, because it was very clear at the end of last season that the huddle belongs to Skelton now, and will have to be wrested away by Kolb in order for him to become THE guy in my opinion. If he can do the job, then power to him, because he will have to show that he is no longer the guy with the 'deer in the lights' guy when the rush comes. If he can overcome that, and learn the playbook so that he can make his reads (while remaining in the pocket), then we will also be stronger at QB. Skelton has continued to make steady progress, and should continue to push Kolb, and just might overtake him this off-season. Bartel is a solid emergency QB at this juncture, and he too continues to improve. I believe we will be much stronger at QB than we were last year.

It will be interesting to see how we address the WR situation. I would prefer that the birds look both to free agency and at the draft for this fill. It would be nice to have another big receiver with good hands to complement Fitz, and even better if it was a speed guy.

Losing Richard Marshall in free agency was a shame. I don't believe that the team can sit on Toler's return to the lineup, and that they will be a player for and additional corner, either in the draft or in FA. They should also be looking at the SS position this off season. In any event, the team can now concentrate on what IS instead of what might be, and use the FA period to continue to set up the college draft in April.

I am leaning more and more towards the Cards taking the ND WR if he is still there when when pick at 13. Makes a lot of since, and doesn't appear to be a reach like I feel the OLmen will be at that spot.

A trade back to pick up a 2nd round pick makes more and more sense also.

I'm not a college FB fan, but I think you're talking about Michael Floyd, right?

I'd be all about getting WR2 early in the draft (obviously "early" means first round as we don't have a second). I think our LB corps is ready to blow up. We could use some secondary help, but with Toler coming back, we've got less of an imperative to overpay.

Get Wimbley, Floyd, and a CB2 and we can draft 3 - 7 for depth.

I really do hope that the birds continue to work on the O-line. I believe we should be doing everything we can to convince Bell to come here to play. If we make the pay comparable to what he would get at Buffalo, he should be swayed by the warm climate, the dome, and the grass field, not to speak of playing with a divisional contender year after year.

Wimbley also piques my interest, although I am not sure if we have the bucks to entice him to come here. I'm happy to see us looking at the Raider's WR as well. We need to find a replacement for Marshall in a very bad way. He was very versatile in Horton's defense.

I would be all over Demetrius Bell at this point. We need to get the LT issue sorted. He would be a big upgrade at the LT spot.

From ProFootballFocus:

Most Improved
Demetrius Bell: From (2010) -13.0 to +6.8
When Bell first started for the Bills in 2009 he looked out of his depth. He wasn’t quite so bad in 2010, but he looked far from competent at the left tackle spot. He did just doing enough to make you think that he warranted another try if nothing else. Still, his performance in his 401 snaps this year was something of a surprise, with Bell giving up just a sack, hit, and pressure on his 252 pass blocks. It would have been nice to see more of him, but what we did see suggests the Bills may have been right to show patience.

Here are my post Manning moves:

Re-sign CC lower the $10M + cap number

Sign OLB Kamerion Wimbley
Sign OT Eric Winston
Sign OT Marcus McNeill to a 2 yr incentive based contract

Trade down from #13 to pick up a second round pick.

Draft:

Round 1 - CB Janoris Jenkins - Will probably beat out Toler for #2 CB now.

Round 2 - WR Rueben Randle - Size & speed to compliment Fitz.

Round 3 - ILB Tank Carder - Very similar to Washington in ability.

Round 4 - OT Nate Potter - Will take over for McNeill next year.

Round 5 - SS Janzen Jackson - Will replace AW w/in 2 years.

Round 6 - QB Kellen Moore - Prospect who could start someday

Round 6 - BPA

Round 7 - BPA

Other moves:

Shift Brown to RG - Not a good OT at all. A move inside will only help him.

Adam Snyder is backup C no matter what his contract is.

The Chiefs just signed Eric Winston.

Bell already met with the Redskins who said they were very interested in him, but didn't offer him a contract. I wonder if there is a problem?
