So, if we stick with Green, we could be like his old Vikings' teams - reaching the playoffs and losing in poorly coached playoff games? Who wants that?

That's right! How humiliating to go 15-1 become the Number one offense in the league and lose in the First round. Of course history will always repeat itself. Once a loser ... always a loser.

What proven Super Bowl Winner do you expect we'll find to replace this bum?

Denny's best days in the NFL are behind him. Let's get a fresh new coach. One that's not a retread or in the twilight of his career. We've got a team full of young guns, let's load up and be good for several years.

No one.

It's the reason I didn't want him in the first place.

The thing is the ones picking the new coach or GM would have to get it right, I'll ask it this way.

What makes you think they'll do better the next go around?

It's a pathetic choice really, stick with a guy that can get you to the playoffs and probably no farther or go back to the well where you got a 70% chance of doing worse.

If the front office would give me an inkling that they'd get this right I'd buy tickets to DG's farwell party myself but..... I've recieved no such inkling to date.

I completely disagree with this. I always see that phrase when a coach has been out of the game a couple years and comes back and isn't instantly successful. The same thing was said about Marty a few years back. Same with Gibbs and Vermeil. All these guys still know football. Whether, or not, DG turns it around or not has nothing to do with the game passing him by.

Your username sounds like the title of a comic book Marvel would have published in the mid 90's.

Do you have a shiny cover?
I get it. Funny.

I wish I hadn't opened this thread, it would have made CoachBigDog's first appearance all the more valuable.

Well, let's be fair Cbus, it's been 3 years of losing, that's not exactly instantly. His records gotten worse every year.

There's a few things here. DG said he won't coach without an extension. Of course he could be lying or change his mind. It should not take 10 games into your 3rd year as a coach to get your formula right. I don' believe DG can get this team to the SB. His bad decisions outweigh the good
Let's say he gets a 1 yr. extension and we go 8-8 next year. He'll want a bigger extension and so on. He will still make decisions like he's made in the past 3 yrs.
In all reality, we need a no-nonsense GM that is given total control. But we all know that won't happen so we can have this same conversation for the next 10 years on every coach that comes thru.....*sigh*

I don't think I've seen a statement more misrepresented than the one Green made about an extension. He said "IF" he was to return, then he would "LIKE" to have an extension. There was no "demand" at all.

The wrong end of a Tequila bottle.
I think we could start a thread consisting of things we thought DG did poorly during games this year and possibly create a record breaker in size. In Sunday's outing alone, the punt from the 32 when a FG would have given us an enjoyable 9 point cushion at the end instead of the nail biting 6.

Some of the biggest complaints I have about Denny is the preparation, or lack there of, in the beginning of the season. We look out of shape and uninspired. How the heck can you allow that when you're picked by many to be a playoff contender?

Denny doesn't do enough things right to have him come back for another year.
