I wonder how Roberts and Doucet are regarded around the NFL. They seem like just mediocre guys and when combined with Fitz a huge drop off from Fitz,Q and Breaston/Doucet. But then we do tend to look at our guys a little differently than disinterested parties so I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone has read anything on our WRs out side of Urban and Somers.

There's nothing out there on them. Doucet is a talent who's had impact when he's healthy but never is. Roberts became the #2 in the offense at the end of last year even though Steve Breaston was apparently on the field.

It's interesting that the second-tier WR has largely disappeared from the NFL landscape. There are some holdouts like Q and Derrick Mason, but mostly teams have one great WR and than three or four guys like Austin Collie, that Emmanuel kid in Pittsburgh, everyone on the Packers who isn't Greg Jennings.

Just the future of the NFL where WRs are a dime a dozen if you have one good guy to draw coverage.

Doucet is playing pretty well this year and Roberts can step up a little, but its more that Kolb is not getting to his second and third reads because he locks on to a receiver...Roberts and Doucet were plenty open on a number of plays that Kolb should have hit instead of forcing the ball.

I think making reads also is related to knowing the offense and where all your WRs will be on a given play. I'm hoping plays against Seattle, where Kolb missed on a open Doucet, will not happen by the midway point of the season because K understands the offense more. When you have 3 seconds tops to spot your WR, you have to know all the routes in the play and can't simply scan the field and expect to find them open by that method with the time provided...you have to know where they will be

Correct because few defenses are going to give a QB more than 3 seconds to throw the football.

The Patriots protection on the other hand is so sick that Brady just stands there like a statue after getting the snap in the shotgun.
Doesn't move an inch.

remember the OL back in the day when they had Jim Hart at QB, dude had so much time to spot a WR that he was nicknamed I believe Cigarette Hart or something to that affect because they said the guy had enough time back there to smoke a cigarette

I agree with this.
But what's that mean for the defense?

Nashville TN.
Titans lost Kenny Britt for the season with ACL injury. They were desperate.
