It comes as a bit of a surprise because of the timing and the overall improvement the Titans defense made in 2010.

Cecil was the team’s coordinator in 2009, when the Titans defense suffered a serious decline after Jim Schwartz left for the Lions. Cecil will be more remembered for his emotional outbursts on the sideline and his one-fingered salute to officials rather than his gameplans.

Defensive line coach Jim Washburn left Tennessee for Philadelphia this week and it was believed Washburn’s relationship with Cecil was a factor in that move.

I'd really like to know more about this, but PFT isn't a reliable resource.

Cecil just needs to put his head down and charge ahead forward with reckless abandon. It's what he's best at. He'll be fine. I don't know about him as a coach, but as a player (while not the best cover safety) he was so fun to watch.

Profootballtalk.com reports the Cardinals will name former Packers coach Mike Sherman as their next head coach.

The only thing I care about with Cecil being fired it means yet another team competing to fill the same coaching position as us.

Cecil is a great guy for fire, but not the best coordinator. Maybe as an DB's coach, but again the dude has been a 4-3 guy his entire career, so I am not sure how great of a fit he is. But a legendary player for sure.
