with the titans losing samari rolle and dyson this offseason it looks more and more like they will be taking a corner at #6. i hope this means we do what i wanted all along, make the henry trade and pick up dj at #8.

Then who plays CB? Keep in mind, there are 3 top tier CB's.

Can we say Rogers? I won't be crying if we get him at CB at #8.

I think Jeff Fisher may surprise everyone at #6...in fact, I bet Antrel Rolle will not be the choice here. Reason? I think Fisher tends to draft more for speed in his corners and is less concerned about size...which is why Jones and Rogers may be tabbed prior to Rolle.

But, I think Fisher is going to address his need for a pass rush first here and, if he does...doesn't DeMarcus Ware look a lot like a Jevon Kearse clone?

The other temptation Fisher will have is drafting a WR here, especially if Mike Williams or Troy Williamson is on the board.

I'd rather have Pacman or Rogers than Johnson, I think. But I'm still hoping Rolle slips to us.

How about:

Derrick Johnson
Position: Cornerback
College: Washington
Height: 5-11
Weight: 188
Hometown: Riverside, Calif.

Analysis | Injury Report | Agility | High School | Personal

OVERVIEW
Johnson is a solid cover corner who started in 36 of the 47 games he played as a Husky. He set the Washington record in 2003 by recording an interception in four consecutive games and finished his career seventh on Washington's all-time record list with 11 interceptions.

Depending on if we trade for Henry or not, I'd be happy with Benson, Brown, Cadillac, D. Johnson, Rolle, Pac Man or Carlos Rogers. Any of those guys will help us tremendously IMO.

Don't be surprised if Fisher takes Aaron Rodgers at 6 if he's there. Here's why.Chow watched him light up USC the last 2 years,McNair is due 50 mill starting next year and they won't pay that,Volek is more of a stop-gap, and they are re-building so why not get a young Qb to re-build around?

Not a day 1 pick whatsoever.

I agree...McNair is not going to be around much longer. Although, I thought the Titans were ok with Volek...hasn't he had some success?

a second rounder like, marlin jackson, corey webster, bryant mcfadden, justin miller etc. the draft is very deep at corner, not at all at lb.

Add Stanford Routt of Houston. Supposed to be moving up to as high as a second round selection.

He may fall to even late in day 2 because he's more like 168 instead of 188.

He's a decent KR however and would be a good choice for us on day 2.

Rolle (or any other CB) is no lock for the Titans. Nothing would surprise me, but Floyd Reese very rarely drafts for need in the 1st round.

I would say the leading candidates for our pick (in no particular order) are:

Barron (OT)
Rolle (CB)
Williams (WR)
Rodgers/Smith (QB)
Benson (RB)

Benson is certainly an option. Chris Brown has been good when healthy, but that hasn't been too often and Benson would give us the ball control offense we had with EG in his prime. Ronnie Brown is also an option, but Caddy would surprise me greatly (great player, but wrong fit).

DE would surprise me. I think Merriman and Ware both look great, but we drafted three DEs in the first 4 rds last year and also picked up KVB this offseason. We may still draft one high, but we won't reach for a DE as a "need" position.

DJ won't happen. Too much like Bulluck and not value in our D.

I also think Pacman is unlikely. We already have a couple of fast, raw CBs on the roster (Waddell, Beckham) and if we go corner it would be for the more polished guy like Rolle.

There are three top tier CB's but when all is said and done two years from now it will be more likely that some guy from the lower rounds will be the CB everyone looked over.
