THIS JUST IN, per Schefter...we will not know who the starting QB for the 2012 Arizona Cardinals will be until 3:23 EST on Sunday September 9th.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt has permitted FOX to perform a special re-enactment edition of the 1960s-1970s hit game show To Tell The Truth---and get this---the 4 man panel (Whisenhunt, Grimm, Miller and McNulty) will have 7 minutes to ask questions from THREE masked men (Skelton, Kolb and Lindley) and the ONE who gets the most votes of the three---becomes the NEW Arizona Cardinals QB, one half an hour later when the Cardinals square off versus NFC nemesis and foe, the Seattle Seahawks.

A spokesman for FOX said today: "This is going to rival the LeBron James announcement with Jim Gray from the Greenwich Country Club in Connecticut. This is going to be television drama at its highest!"

For the comparative link go here:

This is SO FUNNY---it's SO worth the 9 minutes. Check it out!

Dedicated to Catfish, Garth, Jeff Gollin, 40 Year fan and all those of us who grew up on black and white TV game shows! Do tell us---anyone---if you remember To Tell the Truth!

By the way---I thought I would tell you that I just had a book published if you are interested in reading it. It's called Stories I Tell My High School English Students (For Encouraging a New Generation of Writers and Poets). Here's the website:

Mitch - looks like a great book! My daughter recently started her freshman year at ASU and selected Creative Writing as her major. She LOVED her AP English class in high school!

By the way - which one is you in that picture in the "About the Author" section??

Thanks, 82!

The old guy on the back left.

That's great about your daughter! I hope she is as inspired by the professors at ASU as I was at BC. They changed my life.

Best wishes,

Mitch

She had a terrific AP English teacher who really inspired her. We're certainly hoping for a similar experience at ASU!

Good luck with the book Mitch! Bet that was fun going through the writing process!

I remember "to Tell the Truth", but seldom watched it. (It probably was on at the same time as The Shadow, David Harding Counterspy or Gunsmoke on the radio).

You confuse me at times Mitch.

Listed under passions there is no mention of the Cardinals or at least football?

Good luck with the book, I've always admired your talent for writing.

They didn't ask me about my favorite sports teams, Cardiac. Had they---it would have shown up!:newcards:

Do tell us---anyone---if you remember To Tell the Truth!

Kitty Carlisle: Numbah one: When you are at the line of scrimmage are you ever afraid?

#1) No Ma'm. I track wild pigs through the desert and kill them with my knife. I ain't scared a no defensive lineman. Unless he hurts me.

Thank you Numbah one, Numbah too-ah: What is your favorite play?

#2) That would be the Hail Mary since the Jesuits designed the last part of it.

Thank you Numbah too-ah. Number three: Will you please tell us how you find Arizona?

#3) Dude! Get on the 8 in Mission Bay and head east.

(Though we were more likely to be watching Sherman and Mr. Peabody entering the WABAC machine.)

Congratulations on the book, Mitch. Your students are lucky to have you.

Classic, Dems!

I loved Kitty Carlisle and Tom Poston---and Peggy Cass and Bennett Cerf---and all those game show magnates---how's about Soupy Sales??? I can still do the Soupy Shuffle---not as well, mind you, but close!

P.S. Speaking about To Tell The Truth---I am luck to have the kids, Dems. I hope you check out the YouTube video of the 5 minute short film they made---most of the are on the front or back cover of my book. Check these kids out out! Please let me know what you think!

In the late nineties and think early 2000's, they brought the show back on NBC. Only lasted a couple of seasons. It was pretty cool.

Gary Moore, Bill Cullen, Orson Bean, Jayne Meadows...I think Bert Convy was in there some time....

I love the memories of old b/w tv and my youth. I remember when TV Guide had the symbol that a show was broadcast in color. We didn't get a color tv until the late 60's. Watched on an old Packard Bell console for many, many years.

Sorry for the ramble down memory lane....back to the topic brought to you by Mitch...

Come to think of it, I think the reason why I missed many of those shows was because I was too busy listening to the Alan Freed and Jocko rock 'n roll radio shows. I do remember watching "Leave it to the Girls", hosted by John Daly and featuring Dorothy Killgallon, Arlene Francis, Maggie McNellis and Eloise McElhon (whom I thought was hot). That plus mistakenly assuming that the Cardinals on black & white tv had black & white unis like the present day Raiders.

I'd did, Mitch, and they're impressive! They did a great job with it.

(And I can still do the Soupy Shuffle as well. It ain't pretty but I still know the moves. - Now I'll have Pookie the Toreadore in my head all afternoon.)

My biggest football dream?

Doing the Soupy Shuffle with you, Dems, under the red and white confetti after the Arizona Cardinals have won their first ever Super Bowl.
