Couple trade proposals

Which would you rather do?

TRADE SCENARIO #1

Cardinals trade - #5 pick, 3rd round pick, and 2008 1st round pick

For

#2 Pick

I don’t have the point system or anything but this would seem to be pretty standard as far as trades go. Maybe you would have to include a player instead of a third round pick but I don’t see us being able to move up with out giving up something of extreme value. As an addendum to that trade – what if we did this:

Cardinals trade – WR Larry Fitzgerald

To Minnesota for # 7 pick

Cardinals select: #2 – Calvin Johnson
#7 – Levi Brown or Laron Landry

Why the Cardinals do this: Cardinals get # 2 pick and a guy who will be locked up for another 5 years – not to mention the best WR prospect since Randy Moss. Johnson also adds a speed dimension opposite Q that we do not currently have. Fitzy gets to go home and play for a team desperate for a playmaker. With the # 7 pick Cardinals can go with the need pick (Brown) or the future Pro Bowler (Landry). I would go Landry and then select the best OT in the 2nd round.

TRADE SCENARIO #2

Cardinals trade # 5 pick

FOR

Dolphins trade # 9 pick, # 60 pick and LB Channing Crowder

Why the Cardinals do this: The Dolphins need a QBOF and just acquired another 2nd round pick in the Wes Welker trade. I would say this is ammunition to move up and get the # 5 pick as Houston will draft Quinn the spot before and it seems likely Quinn will topple out of the top 4. The new QB coach of the ‘phins is also the same guy who prepped Quinn since after the bowl game for the combine. Potentially a reason he has been so guarded with his interviews despite it being his best attribute? Miami is a nice place to play…..The Cardinals, with all the elite prospects off the board fall back acquire an extra second rounder and still get a guy they likely would have been looking at #9 be it Branch, Brown, Adams, or Landry. Plus they get a young stud OLB who they can throw on the outside of Hayes.

Way too much to give up, to move up 3 spots.

The trade down is intriguing though, for sure.

I don't understand why anyone would consider messing up one of the few areas (WR) that we have more than adequately covered to address another need. Sounds like shooting yourself in the foot to me.

Why are people so willing to give up previous proven commodities? Why would you give up Fitz when you know he's really good.

Everybody seems to think future players are better without any idea if they will be or not. How many previous first rounders are better than Fitz?

I could give you a grand total, even if I had no fingers to do so....... zero.

How about this trade:

Arizona trades it's #1 (5th overall) to Chicago for Lance Briggs SOLB, their #1 (31st overall) and their 5th round pick. Chicago would use the pick to take Quinn at number 5. The addition of Briggs would give the Cardinals a young Pro Bowl caliber starting LB for the strongside and allow Arizona to move Dansby to the weakside. The Cardinals would then have the following picks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, and 7. With a late first rounder and early second rounder the following players might be options: Ryan Kalil (C-USC), Joe Staley (OT-Central Michigan), Ben Grubbs (G-Auburn), Justin Blaylock (G-Texas), Anthony Spencer (DE-Purdue), Charles Johnson (DE-Georgia), Tank Tyler (DT-North Carolina State), Aaron Ross (CB-Texas), and Michael Griffin (S-Texas).

I must have dreamed I read this proposal! We keep #5 and try not to get fancy. We are not smart enough to get fancy and come out on the short end.

This would be awesome if we could pull this one off. I read somewhere (I think) that Johnson could play guard and might be better suited for that position. So we have our future starter at C, possible future starter at LT, and somewhere in the draft get 1 more OT, as well as a DB or 2 (1 CB, 1 FS).
With the addition of Briggs and our DT's stepping up, our D would be set (with the possibility of a need for 1 more DE).....

I love Fitz as much as anybody - I am just saying that CJ has 4.3 speed AND supposedly Fitz hands. He is ludicrious. Would give us a different dynamic on offense thats for sure -

I don't want to mess with what we got but if we came out of this draft with maybe the best offensive and defensive players I don't see how you could complain....

Plus while Fitz is great he was a Denny guy. That doesn't mean anything but it also means that Wiz has little loyalty to him as of 3/6/2007. If he thinks the trade will make the team better he would do it....

If you were a betting man and you had to go with either Fitz or CJ having the best carreer you would still have to go with Fitz. You just don't know how good a player is going to be. Look at Detroit. They had several no miss recievers that they drafted and almost all of them have been dissapointing.

I'd be in favor of a trade sending Bryant Johnson and the fifth overall pick to Detroit for the second overall pick. Seems like a fair trade to me.

If I am trading one of our 2 starting WRs its Boldin. Fitz will have the longer more productive career. But I don't want to trade either one.

I'd do trade 2 in a heartbeat, and without even second guessing.

Crowder's a very good, young LB, and to get him and the 9th pick alone for the 5th pick would be satisfying to me.

You could be on to something here. If nothing else it could be leverage to entice Miami to move up as well. If Quinn indeed falls we could have a bunch of teams clamoring for that pick. If he doesn't fall there's a good chance Thomas will be there when we pick. Trading down for Brown or Landry is also a good option.
