You know what I don't get? All these people who put their own self-worth into what sports teams they follow. Somehow, since we follow a team that struggles, we must be ignorant and losers. But, those who follow successful teams must be superior. It's just pathetic. Trash-talking about teams where YOU HAVE NO INFLUENCE ON THE SUCCESS OR FAILURE of the team in question is just sad.
These are usually individuals who struggle in other areas in their own lives, and use sports as an escape to pump themselves up and make them feel better.
*sigh*
I've seen this time and time again.
Here's another example. I've got a guy that works for me that is a die-hard Raiders fan. He noticed my bumper sticker one day and struck up a conversation about football. Cool.
So we were both talking optimistically about the season, and he said he planned on going to the preseason game. He said that even if the Raiders lost, he would enjoy watching "plenty of Cards fans get their asses kicked".
I told him that just because you wear a certain color t-shirt to a football game doesn't necessarily mean your a bad-ass. He kind of just laughed like I was smoking crack.
It will be funny when he figures out that due to some manning moves I had to make, he'll be quite busy at 1900 on 28 August and won't be in attendance at SDS.
