Doesn't really matter who the backup is. I think you lose either way.

Brissett is considered one of the better backups and just got $10m per yet still lost with a talented Brown's team.

My own thoughts on backups is get one that can run. The chances of any backup beating you with their arm is slim, but get one who can run gives you a better shot in my opinion.
That’s what we did bringing in Jeff Driskel. I think he wins the starting job as the backup.

I think we're going to draft someone late as Colt likely only has a year left. Whether that guy starts while Kyler is out is unlikely though I'd think.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we draft a QB late that has similar skills to K1, but there‘s zero chance that guy is a starter.
You just described Hendon Hooker. He's not an NFL starter, but could fill in when needed type of player. Unfortunately, because of his athletic skills, he'll got 2 to 3 rounds higher than he should.

I don’t see Hooker being around when the Cardinals finally decide to pick one. There‘s some chatter out there that he could possibly get drafted before Richardson. Hooker has all the traits to become a really good NFL QB, but he’ll be 25 before the season starts & he’s obviously coming off the ACL tear. I haven’t see enough tape on the kid to agree or disagree one way or the other.

I've been on the Hooker for QB for awhile now

I believe he would make a good backup to KM and in a few years be able to possibly start

I originally thought we could get him in the 4th or 5th

Then I thought we could use our 2nd 3rd round pick on him

Now it looks like he's rising up the boards and may be gone in the 1st

If someone falls to the fourth round they like I can see them drafting one. Like you said Colt is probably gone after this year and he most likely won’t play more than a couple games before he gets injured.
