Are the Cards really that much worse off than they were 3 days ago?
Did anyone read Peter King's article on CNN.com today? He thinks Plummer is worth the gamble. Of course, he also thought the Randy Ratio in Minnesota last year was going to have Randy Moss setting NFL records. He does, however, have this quote from potentially more reliable sources:
"Six personnel directors and pro scouts who last week were asked for their take on Plummer responded with characterizations ranging from "awful" to "clueless" to "incredibly careless"..."
Its obvious that Plummers value to the Cards is debatable at best.
As for David Boston... I'm not so worried about his off the field stuff and potential suspension as I am about his knee and foot. He had "tendonitis" in his knee during training camp and then in the season developed tears in in the patellar tendon. It was not like he took a hit like McGahee or KVB. It just happened. This sounds like it could easily turn into a chronic condition. Which may be why Graves said there were on the field questions as well as the off the field ones.
Plus, it's pretty obvious from his quotes after signing that Boston was not happy here and probably would not have been much of a performer.
So really, on Monday the Cards were facing major risks and in need for some major changes for next year after a 5-11 season. And now, well, I just don't see that much difference.
