I agree 100%. Going into the season 6 wins were the high mark expected by most of us, and some were even in the 4 or 5 win group. I think we will see a lot of improvement next year IF we tweak the offense a bit with maybe a speed WR and 1 upgrade to the guard position, then throw the kitchen sink at the defense. Not sure what will be available in FA, but DL and rushing OLB needs major attention. Do that and should see 10+ wins next year.
I keep seeing this allegation but there’s nothing supporting the statement.
I don't know about most but I was one that thought preseason that 6 wins were the high mark. So far they beat that by 1 so I underestimated this juggernaut Cardinals team. LOL

The preseason thread that (wasn’t a prediction thread) but asked what we would consider a successful season had a large majority at 7-9 wins, so I’d have to think the majority of us thought at least the high end range of possibilities was 7-9 wins.

Unfortunately, I feel the board has it right. He will return and will be our starting quarterback. Why? Because there are not very many options. We can not draft a starter and the retreads aren’t very good either.

We need to continue to develop the young talent, draft well, and attract quality starters in FA. See what happens as we develop the long term plan with or without Murray.

You are correct. At the beginning of the season we wanted to see progress. The team over achieved in the first 10 games then we all felt hopeful. Some were downright overconfident! In retrospect, getting overconfident is a professional sports killer.

I guess I was in the minority then.

This is a very sensible take.
That's the problem. It makes perfect sense, except that sports fandom doesn't work on rational thoughts. It was easy to say that we would be happy with improvement when we were 0-0 but once the product hit the field and we found ourselves in the (brief) catbird seat, our expectations changed drastically, now we're paying the price emotionally. I'm pretty P.O'd with how things ended this season, but at the end of the day PA is right.

Yes, no doubt. But if he doesn't have a probowl season, he's likely gone.
Agreed. He was a top 5 QB the first half of this season, he's now dropped to a top 15 QB. He's still better on average than more than half the league, but if he could ever put together a November and December like his September and October we'd be in business.
