Thanks again for clarifying--now another question. Does a player on IR get his regular season pay? If so, why would a player want to make a settlement?

Full Pay, and most will do a settlement for multiple reasons. One, they think they can get healthy in time to sign with another before the season ends, Two, becuase the team asked them to, sort of good will in hopes of being asked to camp the following year or as you found, to be asked back before the season is over.

I looked this one up and talked to an agent, and this one is incorrect. A player can resign by the team he settled with after six games, plus the regular season games he was paid for or settled. So if a player was only paid for two games in the settlement, he could come back by week 8, roster or practice squad.

Another loophole I didnt know of from the 2006 CBA agreement. Took me some searching but went back to my copy and lo and behold thats what it says, it wasnt even in the injury settlement portion of the agreement. Nice find:thumbup:

I seriously doubt Mitch meant it this way--only that there's a chance of getting a way cheaper, better tackle backup out there once he's healed.

I know Mitch well enough to know that... I was simply ribbing him... ;)
