Todd Gurley could be the mega impact player Cards need.

The Cards have lot's of needs to fill before next season. The obvious one that need to be addressed is the pass rush. I agree that if a really good pass rusher is there at #24, we should pull the trigger. However, if the Cards go in another direction, I could see us taking a flyer on a potential superstar caliber back like Todd Gurley.

The NFL is starting to transition back to using that one dominant back. Lynch in Seattle, Lacy in Green Bay, Bell in Pittsburgh, Murray in Dallas, Gore in San Fran are backs that carry the load for their teams and make huge impacts on games.

In my opinion, Gurley is the most dynamic back to come out since Adrian Peterson. I've watched alot of Georgia games the past few years and he simply is the best combination of size, power, and tremendous speed I've seen in a long time. I envision a Cards offense built around Gurley. Two big tight ends (Nicklas and Fells), improved interior line play, and a healthy Carson Palmer being able to play action pass and throw deep often because the defense is so concerned about Gurley's game breaking talent. I really like Mel Gordon from Wisconsin, but those Wisconsin backs haven't always translated well to the NFL because they are just ran into the ground with all the carries.

A combination of Todd Gurley and Andre Ellington has the potential to be lethal. Gurley taking the bulk of carries, Ellington spotting him on 3rd downs and the Cards have the makings of the best backfield in the NFL.

Just my opinion. Thanks for reading

It is very hard to fill the pass rush need on FA. If you have it, you never want to let it walk away.

With that said, if he is available when we pick, I'd love it.

Had he not had the knee injury he probably would have been a 1st round pick. No way I'd gamble a first or second round pick with that knee injury - just my .02.

BTW, Gurly has a $5 or $7mil insurance policy through UGA. Even if he never plays a down of pro ball he's setup pretty good.

Give me Melvin Gordon from Wisconsin instead.

He injured his ACL in Nov which means he's only been recuperating for the last ~2 months. I highly doubt he will be ready for the draft combine which I believe is held in early March (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). What this means is that any team that drafts him will be based on pure speculation that he will recover fully. IMO, watching his tape, he is well worth the gamble, but I would only take him with a #2 or lower.

I like Gordon but he reminds me too much of Jamaal Charles in the sense of his body frame, and Duke already fits that mold. We need a large back that's a burner, Gurley would fit the mold perfectly.

I would rather go hard core after AP personally. Then use #24 on an OLB or LB

I don't know that I would want AP. It's not the child abuse to me that's the problem. It's the complete lack of understanding in what he did was wrong.

Everyone deserves a second chance, but when you can't even fathom why people might be upset about a very powerful man beating a 4 year old with a stick, well, I don't want you around.

His " I took a lie detector test to prove I'm not a child abuser" act was very distasteful to me. There's no way you fail a lie detector test if you think you're telling the truth so it was pointless.

We have had too many injury prone RBs. No way I gamble on him with a high pick. I am sure there are several big strong RBs to compliment Ellington who could be had in late rounds. Can't think of which team this year that had an undrafted kid tear up teams late in the season. Those big bangers are out there. Just gotta do your research. Many might have played on passing teams or teams with poor OL. The combine and senior bowls will show us some I hope. But nothing better than game film on seeing who can move the pile.

Gurley is a top 10 talent. I would have no problem with him at 24. Also, he's a guy that loves playing football. He's not going to be a guy that comes in, gets paid, and then mails it in.

He won't make it to the Cards second round pick so they'd either have to take him at 24 or trade up to get him in round 2.

Before the injury I said he was a better prospect than AP. If he's there at #24 it'd be too tough to pass up but FO seems intent on not using their 1st round pick on a guy that may not play right away. Gordon will probably be gone by #20.

I want a pass rusher but Gurley is a stud back that will make the OL better and the QB. Here is the question, does that ACL effect his worth... my response is probably not because of a guy named Frank Gore who also suffered them going into the pros, Gurley would be an ace in the pecking order 24 :)

Knowing the luck we have, if we draft him, he'll never realize his potential, we'll cut him, he'll get picked up and become a pro bowler. Now where have I heard this story before?

I'd love either Gordon or Gurley, but do worry about Gurley's injury. I am not concerned about Gurley missing the Combine as there is more than enough film on him. I am hoping that the 'don't draft a RB in round one' causes them to drop.

Behind you
AP couldn't run behind this pathetic offensive line
They need to build the o line

The o line makes the running game not the RB

I wouldn't target one in the first round (e.g. Gordon, Gurley), but it is a deep draft at that position and if a guy they like slides a bit in the 2nd or 3rd round would definitely be worth considering.

You dont take fliers on 1st rounders.

Fliers are "if it doesnt work out, no harm done" situations. SOBs drafted in the 1st round are expected to be superstars. If they are anything less, then they are immediately viewed as busts even if they are solid role players.

2 things regarding this subject

- I like Gordon, but you never, ever draft a RB in the 1st rnd anymore, Unless hes Adrian Peterson. And there are none in this draft after maybe Todd Gurley, but he also just blew his leg out.

- This is a good RB draft. The RB we can get in the 3rd wont be a significant step down from Gordon.

Also keep in mind hes 2nd only to Barry Sanders for a reason. They rode that guy into the ground. Hes a heck of a player, but hes already got 100k miles on his tires, day 1 of rookie training camp.

At the most, Id rather take Tevin Coleman in the 2nd. Theres a littany of other good RBs we could take at any point in several later rounds.

Do you guys really want a guy on the team named Gurley? Come on now. We need someone named Rocky or Bruiser. Sorry, no Gurley man for our team.

Still we will never be able to run the ball or screen to HB no matter who is back there.
