Brady is going to be 36 at the start of this season and he had two years on his current deal - if that expired he'd be a 38 year old QB looking for his last paycheck ... if you use favre as a template he could probably get more than this amount per year, but not the same level of guarantees

This deal essentially smooths out his current salary while increasing his guaranteed money exponentially ....... they're also in a position where they could rework the deal again in the future if he's still slinging at 39

They also have a great amount of trust between the players and front office on a team that is always just a tweak or two away from the SB

The contract Fitzgerald is on is his "prime" contract and he's at a really good money part of it right now and is 30 .... the cards are a little hamstrung in what they can do with him and his contract will run until he is 35/36 (expires at 35 - he'd be 36 heading into the next season) ..... If I were Fitz maybe i'd consider a similar arrangement - in 2 to 3 years, but not at this time

Brady has a year or two left and that's it.

He's gonna call it quits before this deal is done.

His body won't hold up as he's getting older and he doesn't want a life of aches and pains.

There's a reason he's taking the money now....and it's not just cause he's a good guy.

They were dissecting it on Sirius this am: its the most guaranteed money since Megatron's deal. He may be underpaid but its all guaranteed. From the ages of 37-40.

Guaranteed money is never a bad deal in my book. Plus, he has gotten PAID over his career (and for good reason). Sounds like he wants to win one more before riding off into the sunset.
