although my favorite role of his is the one where he was the cocky young pilot/bartender/race cardriver/etc who faces adversity and eventually grows as a person, becomes the tops at what he does and gets the girl!

Not a Cruise fan at all but my favorite movie of his is prolly The Last Samurai.. I didnt pick it because he gave a good performance..In fact I cant really say he ever made a movie where his performance was the reason I liked it.. I just picked that one because it my favorite out of the ones he did..

I think his best performance was in Magnolia. He really surprised me in that one. He was also pretty good in Born on the Fourth of July.

I didn't think A Knight's Tale was that bad. Summer Catch though..... blah.

I like Last Samurai too. Loved the Color of Money, 4th of July, Few Good Men, Minority Report, and Days of Thunder too.
