I like Last Samurai too. Loved the Color of Money, 4th of July, Few Good Men, Minority Report, and Days of Thunder too.
4th of July...probably one of his best performances by far.

No poll?
You & me both. Any day of the week & twice on Tuesdays.I'd much rather go to an entertaining movie with B+ acting than go to a dog with A+ acting.
Okay, but I've been saying that since well before that movie came out, so I think they are quoting me incorrectly."... every day of the week and twice on Sundays." Lt. Sam Weinberg A Few Good Men
Is Cruise in the same league with a DeNiro, Crowe, Denzel or Norton? Of course not. He's a moderately talented actor with a friendly face.
What he's REALLY good at is appearing in and bolstering very entertaining movies, time and time again... and that is, for me anyway, what the movies are really supposed to be about; entertainment.
Don't get me wrong. I appreciate an Oscar-worthy performance as well as the next guy. But I'd much rather go to an entertaining movie with B+ acting than go to a dog with A+ acting.
Just me... just mho.
As to my favorite Cruise movie, I don't know that I can really pick on. I'll just say that I've really enjoyed 80 to 90% of the movies he's made.
Cruise should have won the Oscar for supporting actor in Magnolia.

And he is a lot better than a lot of you give him credit for.

I had a friend in college who looked soooo much like Tom it was scary...same height too. He was a ladykiller.
Perhaps... but he's still not in the same league with the others I referenced.
But he does make very entertaining movies and to me, anyway, that trumps just about anything else (for the movies).
