Tom Izzo, Spartans break down win over Ole Miss in Sweet 16

Michigan State basketball is heading back to the Elite Eight after a thrilling Sweet 16 victory over Ole Miss on Friday night.

The Spartans needed to rally again, this time from a 10-point deficit to knock off the Rebels. Michigan State didn't pick up its first lead of the game until midway through the second half.

With the win, Michigan State will now move on to face top overall seed Auburn in the Elite Eight on Sunday. Tipoff on Sunday is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. ET and will be televised on CBS.

Following the win, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo, guard Jaden Akins, guard Jase Richardson and forward Coen Carr met with the media during the post game press conference. • Izzo gave credit to Ole Miss and how "tough" of a team they were in this matchup
• Izzo said he was proud of his team to make it this far and having the opportunity to play for a trip to the Final Four on Sunday
• Akins talked about the team's strong connection and pointed to the summer of last year when that really began
• Richardson said after a poor performance against New Mexico, he owed them a good game tonight
• Richardson said in the first half Ole Miss was "punking" them and they flipped the switch in the second half
• Carr talked about playing tough down the stretch and locking down the Ole Miss three-point attempts in the final five minutes
• Carr said he was extra amped up to play in front of a lot of friends and family
• Akins talked about the defensive adjustments in the second half and how Michigan State was able to keep them out of the paint more in the second half
