I think the D-backs are going to miss his leadership more then they think. A lot of the young guys really looked up to him and all the vets really respected him on and off of the field.

I agree.. D-Backs should have brought him back.

Maybe some of you should RTFA

Earlier this offseason, Arizona offered a two-year deal worth $3 million to Clark

which he turned down and when the offer was withdrawn and the DBacks went a different way, Clark had no options to turn to.

I don’t care if what they offered him they are still going to miss him.

And I wouldn’t believe everything that Josh Byrnes says.

Nice guy. Clutch. But he's gone. He may hurt us.

I focus more on the players we have, than on those who left.

I wasn't referring to you actually, but yeah, Josh Byrnes is a fraud who poops his pants. As someone who has personally met the guy as well as been in close contact with people who work around him and for him. I'm pretty sure your comment and truth are about as far from each other as possible.

It really has nothing to do with believing or not, though. Hell in this instance even Clark and his agent would admit to the offer, they just thought they could more playing time and $$ elsewhere, they were wrong. It's common knowledge for anyone who follows the team. Of course, your perspective could be correct.

First, I have always appreciated Tony Clark as far back as when I was a Tiger fan and he was drafted by Detroit the 2nd pick over-all in the '90 draft (just after Chipper Jones) and was very elated when the Dbacks initially signed him. True, his penchant for being clutch and all the attributes he provided (especially his leadership skills) will be missed, however, he's not the only main leader. There's still Kirk Gibson (who to me still should our manager, but that's obviously another issue all together) who even was even among Clark's mentor when he ascended through the Tigers organization.

I also agree w/an assertion that some columnist made awhile back (if the Dbacks were indeed to lose Clark) that the younger players take lead by themselves... Eric Byrnes has some leadership skills (except when he made that pathetic remarks during the NLCS that seemed to rally the Rockies more so) and then there's obviously Orlando Hudson, Chad Tracy, and to a lesser extent Chris Snyder.

Again, it's a must that the players become more accountable by themselves and disseminate what they learned through Clark and have an individual like Gibson who will ensure that they never lose sight of all their objectives.
