And look like a douche... Or do nothing, and let it get out anyway and look like a champ.

Like I said, For whatever reason, its not hard to believe that Romo is genuinely a good guy, but when celebs/stars do things like this, I would bet 90 percent do it for the positive publicity they might get in the press.

Wow that's a jaded view of the world...

So what, he should have made an anonymous call to AAA instead?

Holy crap, how can I make it more clear??

I think he's a good guy, and was doing a good thing.

The rest of my comments were simply stating, that I think more often than not, when celebs do "good deeds" they know full well, that whether they mention them or not they will get recognition for it.

your points may be true for some...not all. I think romo is a guy who is very down to earth and doesn't let his status completely go to his head like some other NFL players.

I will ask you this though. How many celebs would of just passed by and done nothing? better yet...how many normal folks would of passed by and done nothing? we aren't talking about a donation of pocket change for charity.... and not that it's a bad thing there. We're talking about a guy who took time out of his own busy day to help another person/s in need. celeb or not I don't question the motive.

It wasn't Tony Romo. It was his body double. The real Tony Romo was in the back of a limo with hookers (who give their money to Islamic Fundamentalists) doing lines. After getting coked up he cruised the local junior high school to sell heroin.

There.......now we can hate him.
Sounds like somebody has been listening to Rush Limbaugh again.....

Bump for: wow, is he really that good a dude?

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon...oys/stories/112008dnsporomobrite.41c8682.html

A homeless man who goes by Doc was cashing in change at a Cinemark Theatre in Dallas when a guy walked up and offered to pay his way into the movie. He planned to spend his day passing out fliers and accepted a rain check before realizing that he recognized the generous gentleman.
"Was that Tony Romo?" Doc asked the worker behind the counter.
It sure was. Doc, who requested that his real name not be used, hustled across the street to the consignment store that paid him to occasionally pass out fliers and requested the day off. By the time he got back to the theater, Role Model had already started.
Romo, who confirmed the story but didn't want to elaborate, waved Doc over to sit by him and his friend. Doc sheepishly mentioned that he hadn't showered in a few days.
"Don't worry about that," Romo said. "I'm used to locker rooms."
And so the $67 million quarterback and a man who doesn't have $6.70 to his name sat next to each other and shared laughs for 90 minutes or so.

It's almost enough to make you not want to deride him for taking off a month for a broken pinky. Almost.

Sounds like a nice guy. I had no idea of what was going on off the field, with him, other than he had a sort-of-famous girlfriend. Good for, you Tony!

Bump for a personal story of Tony Romo just being a great guy:

I grew up in San Antonio, and the youngest son of some of our family friends is the starting quarterback at Southlake Carroll High School in Dallas, perennially one of the top-ranked HS football teams in the country. Well last season he was the back up QB, and mid-way through a playoff game the starting QB got hurt and Kyle took over. Long story short, Kyle played phenomenally, and with a few seconds left on the clock he had put his team in a position to win with a field goal - all he had to do was spike the ball. Well unfortunately, this 17 year old kid bobbled the snap, time ran out, and Southlake Carroll was done for the season.

THE VERY NEXT DAY, fresh off of his own bobbled snap, Tony Romo called Kyle and told him that he had played one heck of a ball game and that these things just happen sometimes. I love the Cardinals and have never been much of a Cowboys fan, but for the type of character he has displayed over and over again, I am and will continue to be a big Tony Romo fan. The NFL needs more stand-up guys like him!

Now there's that other story floating around that he took a homeless man to the movies; paid for his ticket and sat with him.

The tire changing story is believeable; the homeless man story is a bit bizarre and not so believable IMO.

Maybe I'm a sucker for a heartwarming story, but I believe both.

Call me a skeptic NY'er, but both stories coming out at the same time? Hmmm... maybe Jessica's got her PR machine working full time with Romo. :p

I'm not too critical of Romo missing time with the pinky. If the last game is any indication, he wouldn't have been able to throw the ball. As bad as things have been for the Cowboys, they're 6-4 and could be ready to make a run.

I've really come around on my opinion of Romo. Though, I must say that going to the movies with a homeless dude is kinda strange. A nice gesture, but strange

With all the normal slams against ANY Cowboy being considered... maybe since Jessica was out of town, the rhyme which has been tied to his name coud have played out... I'm just sayin:shrug:
