Bought a gaming system. The FC Twin! Plays NES and SNES games in one unit.

I have never heard of the fc twin. sounds like a good idea and the price isn't bad. I may get one.

The DS trumps the PSP in just about every way, well in every way that matters....... games.

The only genre that teh PSP trumps the DS is sports games, IMO. I have absolutely no desire to play sports games on a portable gaming system.

Homebrewing the PSP also interests me, but it is too much work and the chance of a bricked PSP pretty much makes it not an option.

Let me clarify.

Homebrewing includes all of that. Modifying your PSP from original specs to do other operations is homebrewing.
