The Sweet 16 of the 2025 NCAA men's basketball tournament will begin Thursday. Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, BYU, Duke, Florida, Houston, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Purdue, Tennessee and Texas Tech have advanced to the Sweet 16.

Midwest Region No. 2 seed Tennessee (29-7) will face No. 3 seed Kentucky (24-11) for the first time in the NCAA Tournament. The Tennessee-Kentucky men's basketball series dates to Feb. 16, 1910 with the Wildcats leading, 163-78.

Tipoff between the Vols and Wildcats is scheduled for 7:39 p.m. EDT on Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

With seven SEC teams remaining in the NCAA Tournament, Vols Wire looks at the top SEC basketball scorers for points per game in the Sweet 16. Tennessee fifth-year guard Chaz Lanier ranks third among SEC scorers still playing in the NCAA Tournament. Lanier is averaging 18.1 points per game, and is behind Alabama's Mark Sears (18.6 ppg) and Auburn's Johni Broome (18.4 ppg).

Tennessee senior guard Zakai Zeigler also ranks top 10 among SEC scorers in the Sweet 16. He is averaging 13.7 points per game.
