I wonder if Phill11 is on the list. Doesn't he play HS baseball when he's not running various business enterprises?:biglaugh:

I think he meant the top high school players this year.

Little off-topic but I thought Jason Urquidez would make our top 30 prospect list. That kid has some nasty stuff. Reminds me a lot of El Duque.

I wouldn't put too much cred into this list (I'm talking about the top-30 prospect list posted, not the the high school list. Sorry, I quoted the wrong post). Chris Young and JUSTIN UPTON are not on the list. Also, they have Sergio Santos at #10. As we all know, he's a Blue Jay........ It's def a list from last year. Urquidez should be in the top-30, he's got great stuff and frustrates the hell out of batters. Great off speed stuff

The list was published by BA in either November or December, right before Upton signed and the Vazquez/Glaus trades. Someone from BA later said that if they could redo the list, Upton would have been #1 and Young #5.

I figured that but I was responding more to the Urquidez comment but then realized they had or left off key components to our farm system. Thank god we signed Upton

From BaseballAmerica:
With scouting reports on 900 players--all right, it's 902 this year, because we gave you Justin Upton and Mike Pelfrey scouting reports in the back of the book, in anticipation of them signing--all the developing changeups, above-average arms and good hitting approaches can run together.

Nice that they got Upton in the Handbook. Does anyone know if Young is in it?

He's probably listed #1 on white sox list.

Bobby Jenks was #1 on the BaseballAmerica top 10 prospect list, but maybe in the book Young was #1:shrug:

I am really interested in why both Kolberg and Urquidez were left off our top 30 list. I heard that Kolberg rubbed the organization the wrong way, but those numbers aren't too bad at all. Maybe it is just the depth of our farm system. I e-mailed BaseballAmerica about it, so it will be interesting to find out what their response will be.

The main problem with Urquidez is that he dominated, but he was pretty old for his league. However, I still think that they are both better prospects than Neighborgall.

According to Kellen Raab (in posts over on the ESPN board), Kolberg may have quit.

He has some interesting takes on some other good info too, but is not going to be posting any more for a while as spring training is starting up. He is the user klrgumby: http://forums.espn.go.com/espn/thread?forumID=21&threadID=3147450
