A pretty easy category, I'm sure one of the movies on almost every list will be Hunt for Red October.

My 3:

Hunt For Red October
Das Boot
Crimson Tide

To throw another one out there, The World Is Not Enough.

"I'm looking for a submarine. Its big, and black, and the driver is a very good friend of mine!"

Not a true "submarine" movie but a great drama involving a submarine.
One of those movies I always watch when I come across it.

I can’t believe no one had my first 2 on the list. But I don’t know the rules. Does it need to be a submarine movie or can a submarine just have a major role? Here are my top 3 submarine movies:

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Operation Petticoat
Hunt For Red October

I really liked Das Boot. I haven't seen the other two, I'll have to move them up my Blockbuster queue.

You seriously have seen Das Boot but not seen Hunt for Red October and Crimson Tide? You live in one bizarro world, Bada... :)

I loved Das Boot, but I thought HFRO was pretty boring. I liked Crimson Tide okay.

How 'bout Ice Station Zebra? Anyone see that one? That was one of my favorites as a kid. I remember watching it on TV with my dad on a sunday afternoon.

Watched that recently--it was definitely full of pretty big name stars of the time.

How does it hold up? I haven't seen it in years and years.

I thought there was a little confusion with the plotting, but it seemed to hold up as well as other war movies of the time, which is to say, not great, but certainly worth watching.
