Best three Westerns? No way. Every Western ever made is worth watching.

All the previous movies and actors mentioned plus anything with Richard Widmark, Lee Van Cleef and on and on. Shot in black and white, in color, in Cinerama. Presented as comedies, musicals (How The West Was Won and others), romances, tragedies or history.

No matter. Shot in Italy or Spain? No matter. Make a Western, I'll watch it.

Lotsa love for Jose...i'm pleasantly surprised.

1) Outlaw Jose Wales
"Not a hard man to track...leaves deadmen wherever he goes..."
2) Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid
"Think ya used enough dynamite there Butch?"
3) Unforgiven
"Which one'o you owns this here ****hole?"

Honorable mention:
-Tombstone(without Val Kilmer this wouldn't have made my top 10)
"Give Doc the shotgun....they'll be less apt to get nervy if...he's on the
street howitzer."

-Rio Bravo(brilliant storytelling and you get to hear Dean Martin & Ricky
Nelson sing a mini duet) also Angie's hot.
Wheeler> "Thats all you've got?"
Chance> "Thats what i got."

Sorry, that made me laugh. Is that the Mexican version that took place after the Mexican Civil War. :D

Edit: I just realized everyone else spelled it like a girl, including myself. It's Josey, we spelled it Josie and you and Pariah called him Jose'. Oh well....C'est la vie

I watched "Dakota" and "Dark Command" last night, both early- to mid-40s John Wayne westerns. Hell, Dark Command was made in 1940, 2 years after Stagecoach, but by this time he had already made 85 movies! Just an incredible body of work.
