Welcome back to another instalment of Top Five at 15/30. Last time, we looked at the Vancouver Canucks’ top performers from February 15 to 28. This time, we’ll be looking at the best performances from players throughout the first half of March. Here are the top five Canucks from March 1 to 15.
Pius Suter
Most notable game: March 12 vs. Calgary Flames
Points since the 30th: 2G, 1A in 6GP
Since the end of February, Suter has set a new career-high in goals scored in one season with 17. His 16th of the year came in the team’s March 1 battle against the Seattle Kraken, while his 17th was scored against the Flames on Wednesday night. Throughout his time with Vancouver, Suter has been a reliable player who can do virtually anything asked of him, whether that’s spending time on the power play or shutting down an opposing team’s top line. Throughout the past six games, he has spent over eight minutes on the man-advantage as well as a team forward-leading 13:13 on the penalty kill.

Derek Forbort
Most notable game: March 9 vs. Dallas Stars
Points since the 30th: 1G, 0A in 6GP
With the jumbling of the Canucks’ blueline, Forbort has found himself a steady position on the team’s top-six. He scored his first goal as a Canuck on March 9 against the Stars, making this his first tally since February 16, 2023. Over the past six games, Forbort has been part of the team’s top-five in terms of penalty kill minutes logged with 12:40. He is tied for the team lead in blocks with Marcus Pettersson (13) and has thrown 12 hits — a stat tying him with Elias Pettersson for fourth on the team in this span of time.
Nils Höglander
Most notable game: March 12 vs. Calgary Flames
Points since the 30th: 0G, 3A in 6GP
No Canucks forward has a higher goals-for rate since the beginning of March than Höglander, who is tied for the team lead with a count of six. He is first among current Canucks in GF% with 75% over the past six games. As well, his CF% of 55.26% cracks the current top three. What may have been most noticeable about him recently is his tenacious forecheck. More often than not, he is the first forward coming back into the offensive zone to start a chance, hence why his underlying offensive stats have been so high. Though it’s very unlikely he’ll score another 24 goals this season, he has been trending upwards since his slump during the first half of the season.
Elias Pettersson
Most notable game: March 12 vs. Calgary Flames
Points since the 30th: 3G, 1A in 6GP
No player has been criticized more than Elias Pettersson this season. However, in the past week or so, the forward has shown flashes of the player that he was back when the Canucks locked him into a long-term deal. Pettersson has three goals in the past four games played and has noticeably been shooting the puck much more. In the past five games, he has registered 12 shots on net, which is more than what he’d registered in the 11 games before that. Since the start of March, he has logged the most minutes on ice of all Canucks forwards with 112:58. In all situations, he has the second-highest corsi-for percentage with 62.16%, the third-highest xGF with 8.56, and the second-highest scoring chances-for count with 70. As well, he has the second-highest faceoff win percentage with 56.76%, having won 63 of 111.
Filip Hronek
Most notable game: March 11 vs. Montréal Canadiens
Points since the 30th: 1G, 6A in 6GP
The team leader in points, assists, TOI, and more since the start of March, Hronek has been the Canucks’ blueline leader since Quinn Hughes’ absence. He has the most minutes played with 146:18 — 15:07 of which was on the power play and 13:13 of which was on the penalty kill. In the March games without Hughes, he played 20:17 (vs. Anaheim Ducks), 23:13 (vs. Minnesota Wild), 24:49 (vs. Stars), and 27:50 (vs. Canadiens). Four of his six assists in the first half of March are primary helpers. He leads the blueline in xGF with 8.13 and is second on the team in shots-for with 60. Aside from Conor Garland and Pettersson, he leads the Canucks in scoring chances-for with 64.
