Doesn't a missed drug test constitute a failed drug test according to NFL Policy?

Yep and I wouldn't be suprised if this wasn't his first violation. I smell Jerry Jones all over this, I wouldn't put this past him to have this 24 test arrangement put in place in lieu of a suspension. Something is fishy here because there are other players in this league who, in my mind, should have been on this type of schedule. However it's quite possible there are players on this type of testing, it was just never made public (Merriman, Boston, to name a few)

He did not miss the drug test, he missed the call to set it up. He also has never failed one and becuase of this the NFL is not punishing him like they could have, they are not just making him subject to 24 tests a year. Again, he did not fail a test and has never failed one.

Terrell Owens acknowledged Monday having missed a random drug test several weeks ago, blaming it on a "communication problem involving cell phone numbers."
In the rest of the statement, Owens said: "It was openly discussed and cleared up in a meeting that I had at the NFL office last week. I have been in the NFL for over 12 years and have never had a positive test for substance of any kind. That includes tests that took place as recently as last month. The matter was resolved to everyone's satisfaction last Tuesday, and everyone has moved on."

In this case because he never failed a drug test to date, the NFL is not making it a failed test. THe NFL has the right is there is a plausible reason for missing test and the player as a clean record to just make the player subject the 24 tests a year. They talked about this on the NFL channel last night.

I still don't think all the facts have come out. This would be a pretty cut and dry discrimination suit. Why does Owens need to take 24 tests but the average player does not?

Because that is required if you miss a test, beyond that, the punishment is up the NFL and varies depending on the players past. Since Owens has a completely clean record for tests, the NFL only enforced the required penalty of 24 tests a year.

The average player does have to submit to the 24 tests. And a missed drug test is supposed to count as strike 1 and is supposed to trigger the 24 tests for the average player.

Supposed to (according to the agreement between the league and Player's union) and has. Until now. If what bankybruce is reporting is correct.

If an exception is made for TO, this will be a dangerous precedent.

Okay. I get you. We agree on the facts. I couldn't remember my source article and thought you were saying TO was allowed to skate from under the 24 random tests. He's not. That's good.

It really is a shame we won't test for hgh.

Clothes off (haven't seen him naked so this is an assumption) Terrell and I are remarkebly similar in physique; if anything his legs are skinnier than mine.

I've never taken hgh or steroids of any kind. I once broke my leg and two weeks later won a high jump competition. To assume he's on some kind of enhancing drug is just plain discriminatory.

Of course I'm kidding:)

I laughed when I saw this. Although T.O. is arguably the most athletic, well built NFL player in the league, I don't think he would use performance enhancers. He spends hours upon hours lifting weights, running, and shooting hoops at his home.

I will say this: he is a very forgetful man. Remember when he forgot to send in his paperwork in time to fore go the option year on his contract for the 49ers to become a free agent??

Wait a minute, TO can get on the horn and talk to just about anyone he wants and can't locate a number for his job? BS

He changes numbers(I am sure many famous people have to do this) and the league did not have the new number. They were calling him to set it up.
