This actually looks surprisingly promising IMO. Can never go wrong with Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel as well! Bryan Cranston and Collin Ferrell also star in it!

?????

If I recall this movie was a very average flick. I don't remember it being anything special, and why a movie company would remake this movie is beyond me.

How about something original ?

I seem to remember this movie being pretty advanced for it's time in the CGI department. Lots of eye candy.

Loved the original. A classic Arnie movie.

Funny how they dont mind giving away huge portions of the plot in the preview, guess those are the breaks when you do a remake of a movie thats only 20 years old.

But Colin Farrell? Gross. I dont know why but I cant stand him. I think almost every movie I've seen where he is the protagonist I have been rooting for him to die.

I know someone that saw an advanced screening and said it was spectacular. Not cheesy at all like the original.

I liked it better when it was called Total Recall.

If somebody would remake old, crappy movies and turn them into good movies, that would be cool. Remaking good ones is just dumb.

Heard the same. Script written from PKD short story rather than the original film, which is always a great place to start. The first film totally bailed on the Dick's story and tried to skew the viewer's perception of reality. Dick's version makes a distinction, and this film, I think, is more like that.

I'm cool with remakes when they work off of the actual source material rather than the original screenplay. I hate it when the remake is almost frame for frame like the original. No sense in making it if you're literally going to copy it. Do SOMETHING new.

Except the preview was almost word for word and shot for shot just like the original. I will pass.

No way this looks awesome!

See above.

Did you see the original? The new one doesn't even take place on Mars! Not exactly "shot for shot".

Yes, I saw the original. The preview did not mention where they were. It did, however, follow the plot exactly, with him going in to get his fantasy implanted and his fake wife turning on him and trying to kill him. Didn't seem different at all. I figured, if they really were doing it different, they sure in the heck would want to represent that in all of the previews.

Ok thsi was nothing like the orignal. It was however very fun and a damn entertaining movie well worth the price of admission! MY GOD Kate Beckinsale is unreal in this and just gave me about 1000 more reason to be in love with her!

Studio: Columbia Pictures (Sony)
Director: Len Wiseman
Screenwriter: Kurt Wimmer, Mark Bomback
Genre: Action, Thriller
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, some sexual content, brief nudity, and language)

Plot Summary: "Total Recall" is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.

Meh, it was okay. I'm at a con with a buddy that wanted to see it. It was fun, worth the price of admission, but cheesy to the point of silliness. They could have been a little more subtle about comparing the regime to the Nazis than painting iron crosses everywhere. The attempt at copying Blade Runner's grittiness failed. The movie just tried to take itself way too seriously; it would have been much better if they had either taken out the cheesy stuff like that stupid elevator sequence, or if they had decided to embrace the cheese like in the original.

Still, like I said, fun enough to be worth the price of admission. And Beckinsale? Wowza.
