Randy Johnson is trying to exert leadership on the D'backs in the only way he knows how -- with tough love.

It's not polished. Or politically correct. But it sure recognizes the malaise on the team and from the fans.

Luis Gonzales misses a routine fly ball that lets in the winning run. Gonzo symbolizes the team, day in and day out. If carelessness has hit him, that says something.

Later in the article, the headline reads:

Inconsistent play baffling to Brenly

Bob Brenly is baffled by his team's inconsistency? C'mon now. Bob Brenly is the Master of Inconsistency.

He's trying to make up for his lack of a plan by being a "Hollywood" manager.

Tommy LaSorda played the press that way, but was an effective Manager, for a long time.

When he found the right infield combination of Garvey/Lopes/Russell/Cey, he put it out there and let it be . . . for years. Boring? No, consistent.

What is the point of this thread?

Oh yeah, Bob Brenly is the antichrist.
No, just a very inconsistent Manager who is "baffled" by the inconstent play of his team. Hmmm.

The point of this thread? Randy's frustration with the Diamondbacks . . . and agreeing with the fans for losing interest. Don't you think that's newsworthy?

It may just be the first step to RJ winding up on the Yankees this season. (Anti)Christ, I hope not! ('Sorry for the play on words.)
