Allen is a DE...there is no way he plays olb

We need Kennard and Reddick to man these spots. I doubt there are any trades to bring in guys better than them.

In the off-season we will need to look long and hard for a legit starter

There are no Youngsters. Gardeck is in his 3rd year and never played a D snap until Sunday. Reddick are in his 4th year and has been moved around to try make use of him. Neither are likely to be long term solutions.

Kennard on the Left with Reddick rotating and Correa on the Right with Gardeck rotating (and a bit of Zach Allen) seems like the best of both worlds to me. Neither Gardeck or Reddick can be a full time starter. Even Correa is a push as a starter, but at least he adds much needed experience.

I seem to remember Gardeck being on a few defensive snaps before this seasons prior... though I agree, he fits as a situational pass rusher while not a starter

So instead of swapping a 6th for a 7th to sign Correa with multiple games and sacks we sign Irving off the Denver PS who has about 300 snaps for the Bears in 3 years and 1 sack. Makes sense.

I wouldn't make a trade UNLESS we beat Dallas. If we do, we might have a shot at the Playoffs. A guy I like is Ryan Kerrigan (WFT). I think he could go from the 4-3 to the 3-4, and shouldn't cost a whole lot of Draft capital. JMO.

Gardeck has 6 tackles and 2 sacks to Correa's 2 tackles and zero sacks. I don't have snap counts but I am sure it heavily favors Correa.

I am not saying Gardeck can sustain that level of play but is Correa that much of an upgrade from who we have now? Correa is not a pass rush specialist...more of a generalist OLB.

Sure, but he's a much more experienced player in a room with little experience. Gardeck and Reddick have very little at OLB. Both just moved there this year. Irving is a 3 year bit player with very few snaps that hasn't played this year. Correa would have been better in rotation with his experience both now and next year if he worked out.

I'm not gonna fight over the guy, but a garbage pick swap wouldn't really hurt for a guy with much more experience. But whats done is done :)

It's not like any trade a team makes can be had by any other team. We'll never know if we inquired or we're not given the option. Just like all that were po'd we didn't get jimmy G only to learn later san Fran was the only team offered. And I think we dodged a bullet there. IMO
