from ESPN "@Adam_Schefter Eagles trade FB Charles Scott to Arizona for CB Jorrick Calvin, a 6th round draft pick of the Cardinals in 2010 from Troy"

Well that was a quick response to the FB hole.

Traded the 201st pick for the 200th pick, great value...

I can't remember seeing Calvin do anything impressive.

Yeah, he was getting torched left and right at camp. Tempers my enthusiasm for the Scott addition. Any reason why we didn't just keep Kreider? He wasn't spectacular, but far better than what we have now.

This is definitely not your mothers Cardinals. When would you have seen such a thing even for a mall trade like this in the past?

Indeed. But Calvin hadn't shown anything that will make me cry for sending him to Philli.

I'm more interested in what this new FB can do??? Any word on him?

Calvin was going to have a tough time making the team being out played by McBride, Adams, and Marshay Green at CB. Adams and Green were also outplaying him as a ST'er IMO. Calvin was PS bound depdning on his competiton with AJ Jefferson for that spot.

We traded up one spot in the 2009 draft without giving anything up, we bent the Eagles over on that one.;)

Someone brought up Kreider, and Kreider isnt even playing football right now. I believe he had a neck injury that is preventing him from playing football again.

I like the proactivity of this move but I find it odd. Jake Scott was more of a RB at LSU. Wasnt used much as a FB if I remember right. He was a good power running back at LSU though before his injury. From an older article on his training camp he was having it only mentioned him as a power runner and showing more as a reciever then his scouting report would lead to believe.

He must of shown something in preseason as a blocker or the scouting department thinks he can be a good blocker with proper training, because he didnt exactly show blocking ability or used much as a blocker in college.

Calvin was at least a year away from being an NFL CB, but his speed makes him an interesting prospect, and someone, imo, to keep an eye on. I agree with Shane that the FO acted in a very un-Cardinal way in securing a FB. I guess Green, Johnson and Abdullah are competing for two spots, depending on whether we go four CB's and five Safeties or vice-versa.

Do either Broughton or Maui'a make the roster or will it be just Scott?

I don't know much about him.

From what I remember, last year Toler looked pretty lost as well when he started out.. I was figuring Calvin was on the same he won't see a game unless injuries ravage the secondary plan.. but guess they didn't see what they needed to, maybe it was work ethic.. maybe his ball skills deteriorated.. who knows, but if they feel he's not gonna be the guy they thought he was, I'm glad they rectify that now and get a live body at a position of need. Dunno anything about Charles Scott.. but if he has decent blocking skills and is a threat with the ball in his hands, it just adds more wrinkles for the playcalling..

This was just two guys who were going to get cut getting swapped for each other.

Maula most likely will be the FB on the roster with Charles Scott probably put on the PS. He is a project that never has played FB. Cards most likely scouted him and see potential there.
