ESPN ran this article about the top 10 trade deadline adds and the top 10 trade deadline targets right now:

1. Josh Donaldson, Toronto Blue Jays
2. Chris Archer, Tampa Bay Rays
3. Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh Pirates
4. Jose Quintana, Chicago White Sox
5. Christian Yelich, Miami Marlins
6. Brian Dozier, Minnesota Twins

7. Lorenzo Cain, Kansas City Royals
8. Ian Kinsler, Detroit Tigers
9. Johnny Cueto, San Francisco Giants
10. Justin Verlander, Detroit Tigers

I would honestly take a long look at Yelich. I wonder what the Marlins would accept for him.

I'd like another pitcher SP, or relief. I shudder at the thought of another one going down... At least Pollock will eventually be back, so will Thomas although his defense leaves a lot to be desired... Then again so has his O this year , and Blanco has done a good job.

I think Pollock is our best trade chip. He has a reputable name.

I do too but I don't think we have the pieces to trade that the Rays would want for him.
Oh well I'm sure we don't have the pieces to trade for anyone. I don't put a lot of stock in this thread because it's hard to be buyers when you can't meet the asking price.

I'm a big fan of Pollock but his injury issues are becoming worrisome . Not sure if you could take a guy like him and maybe throw in a Shipley and or Corbin +1 or 2 lower level guys and get a guy like archer. Would it be worth it? I don't know but that's probably the only way we add anyone of relevance at the deadline.

Grienke , Ray, Archer, Godley and Walker sounds real good . Could definitely do some things in the playoffs with that top 3.

This year is a unicorn. If you're buyers then sell the farm. It's not that strong anyways. All IMO of course.

I agree but if you don't have any prospects in the Top 100 then teams usually aren't interested.

Radio guys mention that ARZ should go for a middle reliever instead of a closer. Reason being the cost would be lower and less competition for relievers than for closers from other contenders. Maybe deal Tomas to an AL team for a good middle reliever?

Acquiring a RP would allow ARZ to move Rodney to 7th inning guy and shift Bradley to closer and replace him with the acquired reliever for 8th inning.

I heard that and I liked the idea. It strengthens the team and keeps Bradley in the mix.

I also like the idea of maybe acquiring another SP, someone like Edison Volquez who has the big game experience and could step into the #3 spot should Corbin not turn it around or in case of an injury. Maybe pick up another OF in case Pollock goes down or they end up trading Tomas.

I think that move makes sense for the Cubs as they have a lot of Outfield depth and could win their division with a boost in pitching.

Jose Quintana traded.
MLBRosterMoves @MLBRosterMoves

.@Cubs acquire LHP Jose Quintana from @WhiteSox for OF Eloy Jimenez, RHP Dylan Cease, 1B Matt Rose, INF Bryant Flete. #MLBOnTheMove
Quite a haul for a guy having a subpar year. If ARZ decided to sell I wonder what they could get for Greinke or Corbin for that matter? Not how highly ranked Cease is but Jimenez is the #5 ranked prospect in all of baseball.

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
Sources: #Nationals acquiring Doolittle and Madson from #Athletics for Treinen and two prospects.

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
Prospects headed to #Athletics from #Nationals are LH Jesus Lazardo and 3B Sheldon Neuse. Those two plus Treinen for Doolittle, Madson.

Nice deal for the Nats.
