Should the Dbacks just get whatever they can for Drew now?

I like Bloomquist in the line up.

I think so... I think Drew and CY should be let go... and, depending upon what is being dangled out there for Upton, I could be in favor of trading J-Up as well.

Bloomquist is having a tremendous season for sure... however, I still don't believe he is our everyday SS. We need to find a younger solution. Preferably someone who we can count on to start 145-150 games a season. Willie is 34 and has topped 100 games in a season only twice. IMHO, he's the perfect infield utility guy who can easily jump between SS, 2B and 3B. Heck, he can even play left field...

If we can find a way to dump Drew and CY and get a potential young starter at SS or 3B, I'd be all over that!! ;)

We know Drew won't be back next year.
Bloomquist is on fire this year - ride that horse all we can this year.
Get whatever we can for Drew - something is better than nothing.

I don't think we will get much for Drew, since it will be a rental unless we can ship him to one of his desired destinations and they think they can resign him (he IS a Boras client, after all). I doubt someone is going to pay a lot to rent Drew for a couple of months.

After the public tongue-lashing Managing General Partner Ken Kendrick chose to heap on two players -- Upton and Drew -- it is obvious that the situation went too far to ever be resolved with either.

Personally, I don't like Kendrick. He appears to be a loose cannon. But I agree with his assessment of both players. Even though they are living in the same house, the Papa is disowning the kids.

I agree with your assessment on Bloomquist. He is a solid utility infielder but his offense and defense are just not what you want out of your starting shortstop.

Typically the young SS who has good defense and is serviceable with the bat does not get dropped by his team.

Maybe if Aybar hits free agency we can give him a look in the off season.

Close to zero value at the moment, might as well wait until the deadline to see if that improves.

Him and his brother and their agent.

We all knew it would be a slippery slope the day the Dbacks drafted him.
I'm ready to close the door and move on and if the Dbacks ever draft another Boras player they need to have their head examined.

With both Parra and Drew in the batting order, I am surprised that Drew (.211) is constantly at leadoff while Parra (.275) bats 8th. The both bat lefty. It has been reported that Parra has a higher BAvg at leadoff this season than when batting 8th.

As difficult as it is for us to score runs in close games, wouldn't it be better to have Gerardo's higher batting average in front of the heart of the order, rather than in front of the pitcher and Drew's .211?

I saw that on AzCentral.com, the Manager "wouldn't go as far as to say center field has become a platoon situation", but "he did admit, however, that at this point of the season Parra is 'better against a righty than C.Y, is'." Ah, sweet indecision!
