Charles Robinson (Yahoo Sports) says the Vikings are demanding a one and Cardinals are willing to part with a second. Poll coming to express your opinion.

It would take the 2nd Rd. pick. Maybe we could even get a pick back. :)

Another poll? Who would you rather have Peterson or Ajayi?

I'd rather have Peterson, but not if it costs the first. Combination of money and a first is too much IMO.

Marshall Faulk was traded for a second in his prime. He was a HOF running back. I might give up the first if we got back Minnesota's second AND AP.

I'd prefer a third, but gun to the head would be ok with the second.

Not sure Keim truly will give a second, but if he will that's the highest we'll go.

Ball is in the Vikings court, and they probably don't want to see the top two backs on the board when we have our first rounder...which is probably what Keim is waiting to see break during the draft, at which point the Vikings deal AP to us for the second (unless Keim plays the "why" card to them and gets it done for a third).

I don't want AP for free at his current salary. I'd give up a 2nd or a 3rd if the salary was team friendly, or even swap our 1st for their 2nd. But, with the Viking's playing hard ball the way they are, it leaves us no time to negotiate with AP before the draft, so... no.

my guess is that the basic parameters of a deal with AP are already arranged....... didn't we hear somewhere about $24M over three years?

First off, whatever team signs AP (excluding Minn) will benefit financially. Not only is a team getting an stud RB, but can only imagine that jersey/ticket prices would crush his salary pay. This is kind of off the topic, but I its a win win for the organization, IMO. Hopefully its ours!

Good point! Only one I WOULDN'T trade for Peterson is Calais Campbell. What a record of mediocre picks.

I'm sure Peterson can still play, but at his age and what one of the younger backs in this draft could offer, I no longer want him. Again the guy is a Hall of Fame back given his whole career in the end, but one of the players in this draft could still offer better value over the long haul compared to the years and salary Peterson would require. If the Vikings want to trade, anything more than a third is really overvaluing Peterson if one compares other great players traded of recent :)

I would like it to be a third rounder, especially with his contract. However, I still might give up a second. I don't believe in the argument that our second rounder is worthless because we have not drafted good. A 2nd rounder is very valuable. Brees, Gronk, Lesean McCoy, Lacy, Forte, Cobb, Desean Jackson have all been found in the 2nd round. The talent is always there is just a matter of making the right pick.

A 3rd would be awesome. But I think AP makes us a contender. So I could understand a 2nd

We also have some successes there. Calais and DWash. :(

That really has nothing to do with this year's 2nd rounder. Past failures will not impact the trade.

interesting, looks like approx 50% of board would go as high as a second rounder.

1. AP must be willing to cut his salary in half. At least. That's $6.5M this year.
2. Our 3rd. Or swap our 2nd for their 4th.

If happening, this is going to have to happen after the first round is over, and before the second begins, because AP is going to have to be willing to restructure, so Minnesota would have to give a quick negotiating window.

This is going to one of the most interesting drafts in recent years. I can't wait to see what happens!

point was more that its very hit or miss with more times being miss in the second round.. you know what you're getting with ap for the most part and lets be honest we are screweeeeeed once palmer is done unless we get lucky somewhere the next two or three drafts at qb. So might as well push the chips in the middle of the table and go for broke...

it will be post warner all over again unless we can lure a disgruntled quality from a bad situation ala palmer or in some case warner (not disgruntled just poor situation)
