ROFL!

Jerry Brown, Tribune

Leandro Barbosa had a solid Thursday night, scoring 22 points and helping the Suns regain first place in the Western Conference with a big win over the Lakers.

Barbosa, Marion lead Suns past Lakers, 106-98

But the day didn't start out all that hot. It began with Barbosa being traded to the New York Knicks – or so he thought for a few heart-wrenching minutes when he received an anonymous phone call “informing him” of the news.

“My heart was hurting,” he said. “Every time I hear the word ‘trade,’ … it’s just not a comfortable word for me at all. This is my team. I went a little crazy.”

Frantic and near tears, Barbosa rushed through the team’s hotel in search of coaches or team personnel for answers before he was finally assured it was all a hoax.

“I said, ‘L.B., use your head. Don’t you think I would have told you if something like that was even possible?’ ” said Suns assistant and Barbosa confidant Dan D’Antoni, who was able to rest all the fears. “I told him, ‘You’ve got to use someone else’s name when you check into a hotel. If someone told me to come down to the front desk and pick up a million dollars, do you think I’d start running for the elevator?”

Even hours later, it was no joking matter for Barbosa. “That was a terrible thing,” he said.

The thing about Barbs is that he absolutely loves this team. I wish more players were like that. I will venture to say that this is one player who will never demand a trade from Phoenix, or more money, or more playing time, or complain about anything really.

I heard it was some guy who goes by the moniker "D-Dog" and his sidekick Adam.

Not really funny, probally some ******** laker fan trying to be funny.
Well he went out and had his best game in awhile and shredded the lakers for 22 pts on 12 shots. I wonder if he thought the same thing and was motivated by it. Paybacks are a beech.

LB is adorable, he comes across like a little kid. I'm glad he likes being here, its a nice change from the attitudes that most players have.

I'd still trade LB if it got us the right player but that article made me sad.

I wish there were more players like him.

That is very mean. I don't care if it was a joke. Barbosa is a very nice guy, and is never rude or nasty to anybody, at least not what we know of. There is certain people that can take a prank, but Barbosa seems more fragile. For him at least, this wasn't funny.

The only sad part is a guy who makes 5 million dollars annually doesn't have the foresight to investigate an anonymous phone call before shedding tears.

What a woman.

D-Dogg would have told Barbs he was traded to the Lakers, because D-Dogg was pissed that the Lakers didn't draft him in the first place.

D-Dogg has always liked Barbosa and it hurts his soul every time he scores a point against LA.
