This is a continuation of the thread I started earlier.
I'll give you some more reasons why Bowen is a better fit than Marion for the "new" suns.
As some of you may have pointed out, Marion right now is close to averaging 18 pts a game. With Kobe around, I believe there won't be enough shots to go around. Amare is enough of a ballhog already, Kobe is even more of one. You think Marion would give up his shots to accomodate Kobe? That's basically why Kobe want to leave LA in the first place - NOT ENOUGH SHOTS/I WANT MORE SHOTS THAN SHAQ. Now what makes Phoenix a better alternative than LA? It's because Amare is basically a mini-Shaq with less ego + we have enough talented role players to go around with (JJ, Cabarkapa, Barbosa, etc.) + our cap room is flexible enough to sign good free agents.
Kobe will NOT come here if he sees that he has to share the ball a lot (this I believe with the bottom of deep heart), it will be HIS team or not at all. So we basically have to custom tailor the new suns according to his outlook.
Well, yeah I hate to lose Marion. All around good guy, 18 pts, 9 rebounds, 3 stls and assists... But for the team to move on, someone will have to go. What's good is that we have some inexpensive replacement waiting to be plucked (Bowen).
Marion is a good defender, but not on the class of Bowen. Bowen was all-defensive team and I think 3rd runner up to Artest for DOY. We can put him immediately on the opposing teams leading scorer. Kobe has one less problem to think of, now that he is with the team (Prince, Artest being the other two premier perimeter defenders). I believe that Bowen can help with the rebounds too. What's more is that we now have the respectable 3 point shooter that we desperately crave (I believe that Jacobsen doesn't cut it with his porr defense). Both Amare and Kobe commands double teams, we kick out to Bowen - BAM WAM! 3 POINTS!
Even more if we trade Marion, we get the cap space. No need to trade our drafts and we can still keep White. I really think its a win-win situation!
Of course this scenario is crapshoot if Kobe decides not to come.
