Just got this off the AP site:
In less than an hour the Phoenix Suns have pulled off 3 separate trades that will change the face of their team for years to come.
The trading started at 5:30 PM EST with the sending of Shawn Marion, Maciej Lampe and Zarko Cabarkapa to the Utah Jazz for 3 future second round picks and 5 million dollars in cash. Minutes later they sent Jake Voskuhl, Casey Jacobson and Joe Johnson to the Boston Celtics for a lottery protected first round pick in 2007 and $4 million in cash. Finally to round out what may be remembered as the most unbelievable day in valley sports history Bryan Colangelo pulled the trigger on the final trade that sent Howard Eisley, Leandro Barbosa and Amare Stoudemire to the Atlanta Hawks for a lottery protected first round pick in 2008 and 6 million dollars in cash considerations.
When called for comment Bryan Colangelo said, “I know our fans will be pleased to support what is now the most financially responsible team in professional sports.” When asked how they would fill out the roster Colangelo responded, “We now have the flexibility to make deals and sign the free agents necessary to build towards the future and put a quality product on the floor that our fans will be proud of and identify with.”
A press conference has been called for tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM EST at which time the Suns will announce the signing of Jackson Vroman to a multi year deal. Terms of the contract have not been announced but sources close to the team say it will start at $200,000.
