Then forget it. Fortunately the Lakers have nothing the Suns want, except Bryant, who isn't going anywhere.

Amare does have an opt-out in two years, doesn't he? I think Kobe does as well and well, by that time, Kobe will be staring at his 4 straight first round ass-kicking. By that time, Marion's gone and a bunch of salary is off the books, currently with just Leo and Boris having substantial contracts along with Amare and Nash - should leave us with a LOT of cap-room. Maybe I get my Kobe/Amare pairing, just five years later than I expected!

just my gut, but with both of those guys havign opt-outs at the same time puts something in my head (COMPLETELY UNSUBSTANTIATED mind you) that those guys are gonna end up on the same team in the future. Again, this is based on NOTHING but a gut feeling.

Craig Saiger reported during a game at the beginning of the season that his knees would need another surgery in a couple years.

Duncan said after game 6 that Amare would have a much harder life once Nash is not there to set him up.

And only when you are dealt with hardship could you ever become a true warrior.

Nash makes lifes around him easier, way too easy that others don't need to, and don't have the chance to, develop a more complete set of skills on court. That's the dilemma.

It actually reminds me of the Malone-Stockton era of the Jazzs. They were one of the elite teams for over 15 years or so. But those who looked promising on that team, like Russell, Eisley, Anderson never really panned out with other teams. The reason might be it was made too easy for them to work with Malone and Stockton, and in Sloan's system. They only focused on some special things and fit with the team well.

I'll say this, which is something I've never said about any other Phoenix player: If the Suns trade Stoudemire, not only will I wish him all the greatest future success, but I will seriously consider defecting from the Suns and becoming a fan of his new team.

Don't scare us.

okay, that team, with KT failed to beat Dallas and Detroit that season as well, so to say they would have won the entire title when they ONLY contender they had shown the ability to beat was Miami kind of debunks your argument. That team was what it was, the fourth best team in the league. Period. This year's team was likely the 2nd best team in the league that got screwed because of a suspension.

again, to think last year's team was somehow better than this year's just shows a fundamental lack of understanding about basketball IMO.

They took Dallas to 6 games all very close, a healthy KT gets them by Dallas and they skunk Miami. Sometimes teams get one real chance at a champioship per generation.

This trade Amare talk is so stupid. Trade Amare for Ray Allen or JO?? Please since when has a big man of Amare's talent (being 24 no less) stop being a commodity in the NBA? Since when did teams start giving up big men for small men?

This is one of those cases were some sports hack tossed out his idea and now other blog hacks are just repeating it. There is ZERO credibility to this and ZERO chance the Suns trade the first legit big man they have had in how long?

I've just read on several occasions that the microfracture only lasts a few years. Its not real cartilage.

So it's fake cartilage?!?!? Yes, it's real cartilage. It grows because of the blood that is allowed to flow back into the area. That's why they drill the hole to begin with. The reason nobody knows how long it will last is because the surgery in medical terms is still relatively new.

As far as Duncan's comments, if he said that, well then whatever. He's allowed to his opinion.

Then Amare becomes "Brand/Jermaine O'Neil-like" on offense. The offense will feed through him, albeit in a slower, east coast type.

He may be on the hot seat for his coaching as much as for being the GM. First of all he should not be the GM, strip him of that immediately. Second, he has to be held accountable for not using the bench more in this playoff. We lost as much due to exhaustion as anything else. He has yet to explain why a Jumaine Jones or a Marcus Banks or a Jalen Rose could not have gotten some minutes in the critical game 5. This crap about no confidence is BS. He has favorites and he probably let that tendency hurt our chances. These people are NBA people who have talent. I think D'Antoni gets bull headed and it blinds better judgement.

Trade Amare for Kmart, he already had the second microfracture surgery.

NBA players who have had microfracture surgery:

Guards
Kidd - back in all-star form, says he can't dunk anymore.
Stockton - remained All-Star.
Payton - returned ok.
Hardaway - bad
Mashburn - bad
Houston - bad

Forwards
Harpring - good shape, somewhat less athletic
Randolph - great shape
Webber - very slow return, not the same player
Miles - surgery this year
McCants - just came back
Brian Grant - never the same

Power Dunkers

Kenyon Martin - left knee surgery, during rehab overcompensated with right knee. New microfracture surgery on right knee this year.

Amare Stoudemire - left knee surgery, during rehab overcompensated with right knee. Minor operation on right knee end of last year.

It's interesting that both K-Mart and Amare are super-athletic power forwards and went through the same knee problems. It's gotta be due to their 240-250 pound bodies flying through the air, and all the pressue coming down on their knees during the landing. Except for Webber, there's really no history of the surgery for this type of player, so the truth is NOBODY has ANY IDEA how long Amare's knees will last.

They took Dallas to 6 games all very close, a healthy KT gets them by Dallas and they skunk Miami. Sometimes teams get one real chance at a champioship per generation.

first, they lost the last two games of that series by 17 and 9 points - and lost 4 of the last 5 games, with three of those games being at home. That series WASN'T that close.

second, have you not realized that Dallas is one of the teams that KT DOESN'T play against or play well against, PERIOD. In our first two games against them last year, we lost both, one at home and an ugly one on the road. We only we beat them when KT when down and we got TT in there to give them a matchup nightmare. And you claim we "skunk" Miami. Why is that? Because we beat them once during the season when they didn't havce Dwayne Wade and tyook one game from them when they did? Yeah, that definitely means we SKUNK them.

And not only that, but there's even more reason to believe we wouldn't have played or beaten Dallas with a healthy KT from this season considering he didn't see the light of day against Dallas in either of our victories over them.

bottom line, that team last year was TWO different teams, pre and postr KT, NEITHER of which had shown the ability to win the entire thing. A team that has the ability to win the entire thing needs to be able to beat EVERYONE. That team needed breaks to fall EXACTLY right for them and they did seeding wise and we still couldn't win it.

again, to insinuate that last year's squad was as good as this year's or even the 62 win team is a pretty unbelievable IMO.
