Rumor has the Diamondbacks looking for a starting ace. Ken Rosenthal said Cliff Lee for Upton. I don't like this trade at all. Lee is a 34-year old pitcher on the downward of his career and has a big contract.

And Upton is an old prospect who needs a new location. Once Kendricks did his job on him (deservedly so), it was clear that his future with the D'backs had passed.

So, no future for short future, while Upton still has some value. Win/win.

Good news, looks like the Lee trade rumor for Upton is that, a rumor. They are saying out will most likely be Drew who will be traded today.

What about Chris Young and Stephen Drew for Ryan Dempster? I would even throw in a second tier pitching prospect. The Cubs would do that one, right?

Why would we trade two starting players and a prospect for a 30 something pitcher having a career season? I'm glad you are not the DBacks General Manager.

Lee has a $25 million per year contract through 2015. No way do the DBacks pick that up.

ESPN.com
Lee is owed $25 million per year through 2015 with a big option year attached for 2016 that also comes with a buyout of $12.5 million, or the price of a solid starting pitcher on the open market.

I actually think the Cubs would be the crazy ones. Young and Drew are crap who shouldn't be starting and Dempster has been good for awhile.

apparently dempster is going to be a dodger (could still fall apart, although being reported it's all but done ... which on deadline day may or may not mean anything) ... combined with choate, hanley, victorino & league they are obviously making a strong push

giants got hunter pence

12:58pm: Lefty Patrick Corbin has been scratched from his start for Arizona's Triple-A affiliate, tweets Chris Gabel of the Reno Gazette-Journal.

12:46pm: The Diamondbacks are not currently discussing a deal with the Cubs involving Upton and Garza, reports MLB.com's Steve Gilbert. It was only Olney's speculation in the first place.

12:31pm: The D'Backs are "working hard on something big," tweets ESPN's Buster Olney. Olney feels that an Upton-Matt Garza framework makes sense for the Cubs and Diamondbacks. Upton does have the Cubs on his no-trade list, notes Olney.

Not sure how I feel about this one. Garza still has a lot of upside, but letting Upton and Corbin go would be a lot.

I've also heard from folks with other teams that the Dbacks have interest in Rays RHP James Shields. That's third-party info. Grain of salt.

I've heard speculation Corbin could have been scratched so he can come to the big leagues. That's not confirmed.

So to catch you up: There was speculation about Upton/Garza that was immediately shot down. Now LHP Pat Corbin has been scratched in Reno.

OK, so that clears it up. What we have learned is that no one knows anything.

Breslow to the Red Sox for Matt Albers and Scott Podsednik. Corbin is coming up I think.

Wierd trade - giving up a lefty reliever for so little.

He has a lower ERA out of the pen than Breslow, and Corbin is coming up today. Podsednik is a left handed bat with speed. I don't understand the why behind it though. Seems like a trade just to make a trade.

My thoughts exactly, my question though is you can't have both Albers and Corbin come in the ML without another move.

Where does Corbin go though?

Kennedy
Saunders
Miley
Cahill
Collmenter

Does Josh go back to the bullpen? They said they don't want to use Corbin in the pen.
