The Trail Blazers visit the Suns tonight with a 7 p.m. Arizona start time. They split two preseason games.

Here is a game update from an article by Scott Bordow dated 10-17-17.

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Talking Stick Resort Arena.

TV/radio: FSAZ/KTAR-FM 98.7

Update: Portland will be without shooting guard C.J. McCollum, who is serving a one-game suspension for coming off the bench during a skirmish between the Suns and Blazers in the preseason. Phoenix will have to contend with Portland’s inside-outside combination of Jusuf Nurkic and Damian Lillard. Nurkic averaged a double-double last season (15.2 points, 10.4 rebounds) and collected 3.2 assists per game. Lillard was sixth in the league in scoring at 27 points per game. Alex Len was expected to see a lot of minutes in the paint against Nurkic but he's nursing a sprained left ankle and is listed as questionable.

The anticipated starting lineup is likely to be Bledsoe, Booker, Jackson, Warren and Chandler.

However, I am waiting for it to be announced.

I like that and it probably helps Chriss & Bender to run against second stringers with Ulis.

The Suns could be missing Len tonight due to an injury.

The Suns could be missing one of their key big men for Wednesday’s season opener against the Trail Blazers. Center Alex Len sprained his left ankle in Saturday’s workout and is listed as questionable.

Len led the NBA in the preseason with 2.6 blocks per game and averaged 14.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per contest. If he can’t play, the Suns will use either Chriss or Bender as the backup center behind Chandler.

I think it is worth the try. Warren needs to stay healthy. It could give Chriss some incentive to improve his game.

When's the last time the Suns opened their season at home and won? I feel like it's been a long time.

Last year was the worst home opener loss on record, from memory. It was about then that i realised Watson is not a coach worth playing for and Bledsoe is not a guard that's going to take us anywhere.

What was the lineup back then?

Bledsoe Booker warren Dudley chandler?

Well, now I'm curious, so I looked it up.

2016: lost Game 1 at home to Sacramento
2015: lost Game 1 at home to Dallas
2014: won Game 1 at home over LA Lakers
2013: won Game 1 at home over Portland
2012: lost Game 1 at home to Golden State
2011: lost Game 1 at home to New Orleans
2010: lost Game 1 in Portland; lost Game 3 (home opener) to LA Lakers

Then I got bored.

So the Suns have lost 5 of 7 Games 1, and also 5 of 7 home openers. It's weird that they'll have Game 1 at home for the seventh straight year now. I wonder if that's on purpose, as part of some larger scheduling thing throughout the league?

Bledsoe Booker warren Dudley chandler?

Yep, good memory! Knight, Len, and Chriss all played big minutes off the bench.

Or bad..

There was the hoo ha about booker being announced as starter over knight well in advance of the opener as well, which seemed an odd way of doing things (but which is in line with the odd things management seems to continually do).

Not that that was the wrong call necessarily but knights play during the season possibly suggested a different approach might have got better results.

Aw, poor widdle baby millionaire will be MIA for the Suns opener. :sarcasm:

Alex Len is a jinx. He is not the kind of player to build a future upon. My goodness, the job was handed to him and he blew it.

But we're hearing that he finally understands what it takes to be an NBA player. If he is that slow a learner, you don't stop learning in the NBA.

Yes, as a Suns fan, I am pissed at Alex Len. So we start the season with an aging Center and two Forwards covering the post (the same two that the Coach decided were not a good plan).

Since when did you trust anything our current coach says?

I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Or perhaps I hoped for benefit of the doubt. I guess we'll have to wait 'til Len returns to full strength to see if we show power in the post.

But my main point is that the Alex Len's freight train -- I think I can, I think I can -- is jinxing us. :)

As Len is only playing for the qualifying offer this season he will likely be gone unless he surprises.

I suspect we are both jealous of the money he is making. :D

Nurkic will be a tough match-up for the Suns. He has an outside shot.
