I understand your defense of the cardinals, but I am talking about the division. the nfcw is bad....very bad. you say these other teams haven't proven anything to you? you say the giants haven't got evidence? what about that ring that most of their players have? that's enough evidence for me to say that right now I would pick the giants to beat anyone in the NFCW. the carolina panthers have been more impressive than the cardinals so far. the bears were annointed in the NFC that year and rightfully so. they clearly had flaws, but the NFC didn't have many elite quality teams back then. you are right for defending the cardinals. they are expected to make the playoffs. but all of those other teams teams you are trying to bring down.....are clearly as good as the cards.....some of them better. then they are all clearly better than the 3 other teams in your division. the nfcw is the runt of the nfl this year. that's what this arguement is mostly about. what makes my arguement different than dilfer's is that the cards are a capable team. and I've felt that way the past two years now. but every other week or so it seems like the cardinals do something that enables guys like dilfer to bash them. when they become consistent at playing well week in and out people will stop bashing them. so you asked for evidence.....dilfer probably is looking for some of that from the cardinals too. that's why he and others that might not follow the cards closely....continue to bash them.

Do you really think I'm trying to bring these other teams down when I say the Cards can compete with them? I'm saying that the Cards are good enough to be considered a player just like they are. Sure the Giants won a SuperBowl last year, but they lost some key players this year and we've yet to see them face stiff competition, unless you're saying the Seahawks, Rams and Bengals provided that. Let's see how well the Cards play against Dallas this week. At this point, I see the Redskins as the best in that division.

We still don't have any evidence that the Giants are what everyone is building them into.

the Super Bowl and anhiliating everyone (including the Skins) so far going 4-0 isn't solid evidence in their favor?

Uh, 16-9 is not what I call beating the crap out of the Redskins and where the Redskins competition got harder, the Giants competition became non-existent. They have the easiest schedule in the league right now.

the giants have won 8 or 9 games in a row now going back to the playoffs. now you can say it's a new year and I agree. they lost some guys and we'll see how that plays out. but the fact is they are undefeated and none of those other teams are to include the redskins that lost the champions. they are the defending champs and none of those other teams are. I think the cards are a good team too. go back and read my post. I just think they will get knocked by the press until they stop taking steps in the wrong direction....like the NYJ game. most of my agreement with dilfer is not that the cards aren't a capable team, but that the NFCW is a terrible division when you put them next to every other division in football.

Update:

FWIW, Dilfer completely reversed his position on the Cardinals on Cowherd this week.

He now says they are for real.

Jerks won't let me direct link the clip, but go here and scroll down until you see the 11/3 Dilfer/Iverson link. About 4:45 into it.

Thats a good listen. Kinda funny how he basically said during his entier career the one team he wanted to play and looked forward to playing was the CArds.

Thanks for the link. Yup, he has changed his tune. All that these sports personality types need to do is simply watch the Cards play. They are indeed for real.

WTH happened to Colin? He used to be a fervent Card supporter, thinking we'd be good when everyone else thought we'd be bad. Now that we're good, all of a sudden he's a non-believer. ???

Doesn't change my feeling for Dilfer. He is still an underachieving QB and analyst.

If we were having this success with Leinart at the helm, then Cowherd would be more supportive. He's a USC guy.

Hes talking about how in that video clip he says he thinks the Cards may be pretenders this time. Right before Dilfer says he believes.

I heard him on KTAR today and he reaffirmed his belief that they are a good team. What I thought was incredulous for him to say is that he went back and actually watched the Cards play. Essentially what he was saying is that as an analyst he never even watched them before he condemned them in the national media. Kudos to him for admitting he was wrong, but I think he's just indicative of the media basing their opinions on soundbytes and box scores. How many games can these guys really watch and comment with some actual knowledge of what they are talking about.

Maybe I am mistaken, but I think that all KTAR did today was replay the interview. I work during the week and did not get to hear the original on 11/3. I heard the snippets on KTAR this am and googled to find it and that's why I posted.

Are you saying he did a new interview or that KTAR just re-played the original?

He did a new interview, but I didn't catch who was hosting the show. It was about 10:30 local time. Could it be Dave Pasch? He said he works for the Cards on gameday.

Nah, he was on for a live interview, and he talked about the Cards and the comments he made before. Good interview, actually.

It was the Jon Bloom show.
