Yesterday 2 teams successfully ran the Philly Special, 1 team ran a trick play where their kicker threw a TD pass, and there were a few fake punts that worked. My questions is, did the Cards run any trick plays all season? Not that it would have mattered but did Wilks show any innovation at all because from what little I saw of the team, everything they did was more vanilla than a Ken Whisenhunt game plan. I mean, I used to call Whiz's game plan unflavored non-fat frozen yogurt but Wilks' was about as exciting as tap water. I know Fitz had a TD pass last week but did they do anything else?

I can't be any more specific, but - regardless of down & distance - I'd be watching thea Cardinal game on tee vee and get the feeling that the Cards were about to call a draw play and that the runner would get jammed at the LOS. (Or that they were about to dial up a play action pass and Josh was about to be strip-sacked).

Invariably, this is what would happen. Nothing specific/just a gut feeling.

Were the Cards tipping off plays? Or was the play calling that predictable?

This is about the only one I can think of. I think Wilks idea of a trick play was running off tackle.

Yeah trick plays are traditionally for teams that can't run "regular" plays. Too bad we had neither.

I'd prefer deception over tricks - i.e. better play action fakes, chunk plays that go against tendencies, quicker-developing misdirection plays, better execution of screens, bang-bang execution of jet sweep-based plays, more explosion off cuts in the short-passing game.

You don't need a lot of razzle-dazzle, but you can really sense when an offense is clicking on all four cylinders and forces opponents to be a half-step "late."
