oh wait - that was back in '36....
an inspiring bit of history - for a few months anyway...
who did the US help? the common people in their fight for freedom from tyranny? no - the military dictator! OUCH!

The Green Bay Packers beat the Boston Redskins 21-6 to win the NFL Title in 1936.

(In a related story, the Luftwaffe defeated Guernica 77-0.)

*actually Guernica was attacked in 1937. :)

Renz -

isn't it weird that the US and the nazis both helped Franco?
Not really - if you do an analysis of what our government and the rest of the power structure have ALWAYS been about,
No slam on the PEOPLE of America - I'm one too!

Actually I don't know much about the U.S. involvement. I know Germany and Italy helped Franco and the Nationalists and the USSR helped the Republicans.

Take it to the politics board, ingrate. I truly enjoy the ignorant, elitist morons, that being you, that believe since they're educated AND anti-government, that they actually know what they're talking about. You don't.

You live in America. Is it the land of the good guys? Yes. The guys all dressed in white and ready to walk old ladies across the street? No. The guys who'll help the little guy out? Yes, situation dictating. The guys who'll help themselves while they're at it? Of course. You'd be hard-pressed to find a country that doesn't have it's own interests at heart first and foremost, you do realize.

Or maybe you don't. Maybe you're one of those touchy-feely people that wants everyone to 'just get along', or one of those socialists that believes as long as everyone shares and does their part, that all will be well.

Well, you live in a world where that just ain't viable, buddy boy. And in this world, let me tell you, we are far, FAR from the bad guys. WE don't commit all the atrocities on our own people, nor do we kill minorities by the millions, nor do we steal possessions from the masses and give them to the government elite...etc, etc etc. Oh, I have no doubt you'll come back with instances that are similar, but they pale in comparison with what goes on in other countries.

Bottom line? Today is VETERAN'S day. I'm a veteran, and I know there are others on here. You're sullying my day, pal. You're throwing out your whining little bleeding-heart bulls(#t drivel and, since you've found a partner-in-crime, you're falling all over yourselves with glee.

Get this straight. You live in America. You enjoy America's freedoms and priveleges and protection. Your veterans, whether you asked them to or not, won these rights and continue to protect these rights.

You seem to have a disdain for soldiers. I have a disdain for a$$hole civilians who've never been in the 'real world' that like to put themselves above America and what we are. Go on living your pampered life. I'll go on knowing there are people out there that appreciate everything their veterans have done for them.

I bet you spit on the vets coming back from Vietnam, or would have if you were there, huh? Disgusting filth. Go live with Hanoi Jane in some other country, because we don't want you. It's crap like this that makes me truly sick to my stomach.

Today is our day, Veteran's Day, to celebrate ourselves for having the guts to protect that ***** andikrist and to fight for his right to badmouth us.

I didn't realize we had so many bullet sponges on the board here. Navy Corpsman all the way. One of the best times I ever had was when I was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston. The army painted the anchors out front of our Barracks neon pink! So we painted their cannon they used for taps like a barber pole. Ahh great stuff. Oh and Stout you need a hug.

Nah, not a hug. I just have to realize that we protect the right of others to be complete jerks and ingrates. Such is life!

That said...go Army, beat Navy!

well stout...

i gave props to the soldiers and sailors on the veterans day thread. My dad was 20 yr vet - korea and vietnam.
I think the hippies and whatnot that spit on or otherwise abused soldiers WERE aholes.
Your labeling is over the top.
I understand your irritation at me, who never was in the military, criticizing "the system".
What do you think of anti war veterans?
I'm no elitist - my fingernails are cracked, i have callusses - i don't see how any war in foreign lands except WWII protected my freedom. I have weapons (legal)

All right...well, then, I guess I took most of that out-of-context. Sorry 'bout that. Let's apply that to those 'others' whom we both know are out there.

As for anti-war veterans? They have every right under God to be anti-war. They've been there, done that, got the scars and deserve to have those kind of sentiments. Unless we're talking about those guys who spent three years in a supply room in Ft. Lewis, of course :D

Fair enough. I realize that people do have their own opinions.

Unfortunately, I don't go to many Cards games, and almost all (been to 1 game in the valley) are away games. Up until recently I lived in Western PA, now I live in Western VA (mark you, NOT WV!!! Lol).

Someday, when I have $$$ (cha, right!) I'll be back for a few more games.
