Say what you want about Pete Carroll, but the man can recruit... Tonights game was a crystal clear display of how much effective recruiting means to College teams... USC man-handled a very good and extremely well-coached Notre Dame team tonight. They were bigger, stronger and much faster across the entire team. It almost looked like ND was a div. I-AA team... SC's line would push back ND 5 yards off the ball... Their d-line was on Quinn all night long...
They even have a starting, pure freshman at Safety who is 6'4", 225 pounds!! Are you kidding me???
Should be a great game against Ohio St. I still wish there was a playoff system though. Ohio St. will not have played a game in 7 weeks when they play USC!! That's just stupid...

USC has a good team and the best coach in the country. It will be interesting to see how they matchup with Ohio State. IMO Ohio State is pretty clearly the better team, but I know Pete Carroll will have something planned for them.
Note: Notre Dame and Charlie Weis get far too much respect.

Notre Dame is not as good as their record. They are a 3 trick pony on offense and a sad defense. Soft schedule and Charlie Weiss magic got them 10 wins and a good bowl gig.
I am not so sure of the Ohio State perception. The Big 10 +1 is weak. More like the pretty good 3 and a sad 8. Ohio State whooped Texas and Michigan. Texas looked like a great win until the last couple of weeks. 2 losses and an almost loss for Texas. Michigan and Ohio State was a great game to watch but didn't prove that either team was great. They may be, but are we so sure now.
Top to bottom I still like SEC and ACC. Lotsa of 2 loss teams, but maybe that just means conference depth.

Wally - you can't be serious about the ACC being a superior conference to the Big Ten....
That is quite a bit extreme. BC,Wake Forest, Va Tech, Clemson, Ga Tech are all good teams. Miami, FSU, N Car. State are not bottom feeders. They have 7 teams locked into bowls, so somebody thinks they are decent.
I am quite serious. After Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin the bottom falls out of that conference.
Wake Forest, BC, Va Tech, Ga Tec, Clemson are all good temas. Not great, but good. I would put FSU, Miami, Virginia and N Car. State against Illinois. Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana, Iowa and take my chances.

That is complete mediocrity. There's not a single elite team in the ACC this year. No ACC team even sniffed the national championship game. No teams you posted above pose any threat to the elite teams this year.
