I agree that Aikman is miles ahead of some of the other guys. He seems pretty even handed overall

though i didn't hear him at the end as i was in a completely joyous stupor.

Don't worry, you didn't miss anything.

Both Stockton and Aikman were bumbling, stumbling, giggling something out that didn't amount to a complete sentence.

"AND THE CARDINALS BLOCK THE PUNT FOR THE TOUCHDOWN!!!"

would have sounded nice instead of the stuttering and stammering but whatever since I was too dancing around the house like a madman.

I only noticed the stammering after re-watching the play about 20 times. But WHO CARES!

We won!

What?
I thought Stckton was far worse than Aikman in the homer dept. Aikman corrected him several times.

If you have a problem with Aikman calling Cowboys games, I guess we can't have Wolfley or Beuerlein call any Cards games anymore then.

Come on. We won, celebrate! Who cares what aikman thinks, he doesn't play anymore and is just a commentator.

Thats apples vs Oranges, Wolf only does the local call, And the National ex-Cardinals (Beuerlein, Esiason hate the Cards for the most part. :p:p

Agree with most. Aikman was solid and even-handed. Stockman is a joke. Short of being a Cardinal homer, I don't think he could have been much fairer.

I thought the broadcast was pretty fair. They even highlighted the fact that the Cards have won a playoff game since the Cowboys last have and showed clips from the Cards playoff victory over Dallas a decade ago. Aikman was a man about it and talked about how bad of a game he had.

Any St Louis guys know that Tim McCarver can't put away his bias when he calls a Cardinals game. I half expect him to run onto the field with a Bob Gibson jersey on during the games. Good for Aikman to keep it in check

I think the stammering on the last call of the game was a) because Stockton stammers on just about any call at his current age. I think the guy was once a quality announcer but is currently calling games based on the respect for his career which the network obviously has. It surprises me that he's getting A-list games but I don't think it's an accident that he's working with Aikman, who is much more than a color commentator for the respective duo. b) I think they were both as surprised as everyone else and more importantly, were waiting to see what the flag was going to be before getting too excited. When Morey broke that free, I know that my thoughts were that it would be an offsides. I certainly don't think Aikman was disappointed to the point of speechlessness. He's an ex-Cowboy but I think he's also a true professional in the booth.

Living in Chicago, we were stuck watching Seattle stink it up vs. GB.

I was only able to watch the final two minutes. We picked up the game right when Aikman said "Rolle continually continues to take the wrong angles."

We laughed.

I also enjoyed Dioion Sanders saying (about the Cardinals) " I do not like their defense by any means necessary."

Is he a domestic terrorist?

Well the fact he said dissapointing is the point I was making.

The guy is an ex-Cowboy HOF. I can't blame him for being torn about his old team.

He does a good job in the booth, but him, LIKE MANY OTHER MEDIA TYPES OUT THERE, love dem Cowboys.

I think it is a moot point to quabble over or even talk about.

The game was the most important.

I don't have an issue with it as long as he's unbiased.

Although I laughed when he said "continously continue" at one point in the broadcast.

That was funny, I remember another time when after the Breston TD he said, that "TD was good for the Cardinals." I called him Master of the obvious after that one. I thought he called a pretty good game, his bias came out a few times, but he held it in check for the better part of the game.

When Aikman started to drool over the Boys he quickly got himself back in line. The only thing he said that I took exception to was that the Cards weren't a hard hitting defense. IIRC he said that they were suprising him by some of the hits they were making against the Boys.

Early on didn't Aikman comment on two bad calls - the one where Dallas interfered with our receiver (badly) and no flag was thrown, and then the fumble by Romo that for some insane reason didn't count because the ref had blown a whistle. Aikman thought both were bad calls that hurt the Cards.

I know this because my husband and I were there at the game, then went home to watch it again. I guess we do go a tiny bit over the top on Sundays.

I'm not so much defending Aikman, as it's probably true that deep down he's inclined to be biased, I'm just contrasting his calling of the game to what the Cardinals have been assigned the last few years. So many of the games have been first timers, guys on the way out and guys who's communications degree wasn't worth the paper it was printed on that the booth was a total non-issue yesterday as far as I was concerned. Add to that, getting the extra truck's worth of equipment covering the game and it was nice for the Cardinals to get the same treatment that the chosen one's usually do. How many times have there been what seems only half as many cameras and very little instant replay during a Cardinals broadcast?

I'm still scared of the national attention. Flying under the radar sure is safer but if the team's going to play with the big boys, it's gotta be able to win the games that the opposition takes seriously.

I muted Aikman for most of the game. I hate him and I won't put aside my bias. When I let him talk for a moment in overtime, he made a comment on one of the plays that Dockett's hit on Romo could have been roughing or blow to the head and seemed to me at least, begrudged that the zebras hadn't bailed the felons out. In fact Docketts arm, as I saw it, incidentally came near or contacted Romo's head as Dockett is being blocked into the ground and it would have been a horrible, horrible call. The point that a fair and unbiased announcer would have made, is that both QB's got knocked around all game long and that the one thing the refs did right, in an otherwise horribly called game, was let the Defenses play and resist the urge to take over the game by enforcing two hand touch on the QB.

As far as I know, Beuerlein likes the Cards. I've enjoyed his coverage of the games on CBS. I could understand if he hates Buddy Ryan. I sure do.
