Don't know the show. The guest was dumbfounded why they would pass on Suggs - said the draft was a disaster.

Felt bad for McGinnis - thinks he is a good coach and doesn't deserve the organization.

Said both picks were "reaches".

Yeah, I heard that too. That's the guy I heard yesterday who said he's known Dave for a long time and felt bad for Dave because he looked like he was just punched in the stomach or something. Both radio announcers said Dave is a nice guy who wouldn't badmouth anyone.

OK, in terms of the pundits' projections the Cardinals essentially drafted:

4 2nd rounders (Johnson, Pace, Boldin, Hayes)

2 4th rounders (King, Gilbert)

1 7th rounder (Wells)

And the Cardinals added a veteran WR in Larry Foster whom Sullivan loves as a WR and special teams ace.

We all know the Cardinals didn't draft one of the blue chip players in the draft...which according to most pundits, there were only 12.

<p>Thanks Walter. When you look at it that way, it doesn't look so bad. It's almost as if the first round draft was used to get additional second round picks which isn't a bad idea when you have a lot of holes to fill. You are a scholar and a gentleman and have made the day a little briter for myself.

Oh Canada!
It really doesn't look aas bad when you look at it that way plus I rally think you could call Johnson a late 1st rounder.

Yes, Walter, you are the voice of reason of this board. Go Cards!
And - as you will see - the premier mock draft maven.

The Cardinal solidified their WR corp in this draft. I think they got 2 wr's who will be around a while. Thats about all you can expect from a draft when you have as many needs as we do. We solidified one position this season. We improved some others; DL and LB. But, these DL and LB's are probably a season away. I think Coach Mac went after a solid, but maybe unspectacular draft. I think he got it. I think this draft is not that bad. ID C Pace becomes All Rookie, we will be thinking this was a great draft.

Well, another way too look at it is we could have had a top player(Suggs) and still got a player that barely moved out of the first round with our second pick. Two projected #1's could easily have been had.

Bottom line is we had a lousy year last year and desperately needed DL help. In a draft as deep in DL as any I remember we somehow managed to not get a top notch DL. Absolutely amazing.

I think we added some decent players, but still need a Franchise QB. Pray we go 2-14 next year and get to select Eli Manning next season.

Why does everyone keep saying we "need" a franchise QB?

Would any of you guys consider Trent Dilfer one of those? Or Brad Johnson?

They are nice to have if you can get one but they certainly arent required to do well and go on and win a Superbowl!

Screw 2-14

I would rather go 9-7 and never see the Cardinals picking in the top 10 again. In a funny way, I actually felt good that I won't see us listed in the top 10 ths draft. Eli Manning is not worth the pain. Just because we loose doesn't make me find consolation in drafting high year after year after...

I would take Roy Williams or Vince Wilfork over Manning both would help our team more I'm not a Manning fan.

I would hope we'll be better than that we certainly should be.

 I sure am not an expert, but I think they had the right idea trading down. It's like I read somewhere, when there was a run on DE and DT, they were out in no man's land. I hope all of these players end up really helping them, but I sure have my doubts. The pick of Pace had me "flabbergasted" (3rd Round at best).

all the people ripping the cards are pointing to the pace pick their proof of the cards stupidity.

But Pace was the best DE on the board at the time. You can't fault the cards for picking him.

the cards shored up the WR corp, which, IMO, was their PRIMARY goal in the draft. Mission accomplished.

the defensive line was horrible last year, but should be better this year even without any additional changes.

Mcginnis has been given some tools to work with. Nobody is asking him to win the superbowl this year. but, 7-9 or 8-8 is not unreasonable.
