This, so much this. People who cite Stanton's win/loss record while avoiding his career completion and INT/TD stats are kidding themselves. There are 60 guys on this planet at least who win the games he won with the defense and supporting cast he had. I'm disappointed he's our backup, if only because we know what he is, and that's a below average backup. Oh well.

Back to the Stanton subject though, if we do keep three, I would imagine that Drew would be the starter in the short term for Carson, and if there was a really long term injury (knock on wood), Gabbert would get more time than Drew.

you know -- does it really matter?

if Palmer goes down for a signficant part of the season -- the Cards are toast (like nearly every other NFL team)

if Palmer goes down for 3-4 games -- im not sure how anyone can be that much more confident in Blaine Gabbert vs Drew Stanton

Cherry picking stats. When called upon to play significant time as the starter in 2014 he was 5-3 with a rating of 78.7 and 7 TD's to 5 ints. Then the ONE game he started he started in 2016, he won and threw 2 TD to 0 int with a rating of 77.1.

I'll take that out of the backup QB any day. He doesn't cost the Cards games when he starts and that's what you want out of your backup QB.

He started 1 game last year and threw 2 Td's to 0 int and they won. That's what I base a backup's performance on and not the random series here and there. He doesn't make the plays that costs the team wins when he's been put in they starting role.

For crying out loud, he's 6-3 as a starter, what do you want from your backup QB? I don't know what the league average record is for backup QB's in a starting role but I do know it's far below .500. No, he's not a superstar. If he was, he'd be starting for another NFL team. He's exactly what you want in your backup QB.

If you read Arian's book, Amos isn't going anywhere. Bruce won't fire any of his coaches.
For whatever reason, ST play dipped significantly since BA came to town. Most everything else has improved though, so I'll live with it.
