Tulare Western High School senior Malachi Ficher put together an outstanding season in his final year on the basketball court.

Ficher led the Mustangs to a West Yosemite League co-championship, clinching a share of the conference title with rival Tulare Union. Both teams wrapped up the 2025 WYL campaign with identical 7-3 records.

In 10 league games, Ficher averaged nearly 27 points per game and also finished with 7.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.3 steals per outing.

Ficher was recognized by the league's respective coaches as the 2025 WYL Most Valuable Player.

A four-year starter, Ficher surpassed 2,000 career points this winter and also helped lead Tulare Western to an 18-win season and an appearance in the Central Section Division II playoffs.

All-WYL awards were voted by the league's respective coaches.

Dinuba's Jalissa Espirito named WYL girls basketball MVP​


Dinuba's Jalissa Espirito was named the 2025 WYL girls basketball MVP.

Espirito led the Emperors to an outright WYL championship with a perfect 10-0 record.

During league play, Espirito averaged 17.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 5.5 steals per game.

Dinuba wrapped up its outstanding 2024-25 season with a 21-6 record while advancing to the Central Section Division II playoffs.

Tulare Western's Carlos Sanchez is the WYL boys soccer MVP​


Tulare Western's Carlos Sanchez was selected as the 2025 WYL MVP in boys soccer.

Sanchez anchored the Mustangs to an absolute WYL championship with a 7-2-1 record. He had seven goals and four assists in nine league matches.
